Dinner at Jiko - first time to Jiko and I loved it. Lovely setting. Quiet. We got a table by the windows. Service was very good. We ordered the Taste of Africa appetizer which we enjoyed very much. Liked the assortment of bread and the dips were very good. I had the scallops which were perfect. Sister had the Malva Pudding which she is still raving about. Would definitely go back.
Brunch at Kona - were seated early at a great corner booth. The setting is lively. Lots going on in the Poly lobby. We split the Tonga Toast and got an extra side of bacon and the fruit bowl. As suggested by someone else, we got some macadamia nut butter to go with the toast and we loved it. Our waiter, Damane, was great. I like Kona, even though it's a little loud sometimes.
Dinner at San Angel Inn - have read some critical reviews but we were pleased. Were seated early (not by the water unfortunately). Service was very efficient. Food and drink came out quickly. I had the mahi mahi which I thought was very good. The chips and two salsas were good. I enjoyed it. The setting is very pretty if a little dim. Would love to go back with DH.
Breakfast at Be Our Guest - you are definitely paying for the experience but I thought the food was pretty good. I had the quiche and sister had the cronut. We ate everything and barely had room for anything on the plate of pastries. I just has a bite to sample. We sat in the West Wing which was a little quieter. Were in and out in plenty of time to ride 7DMT twice before the rope drop crowd arrived. That, to me, makes it worth the price.
Skipper Canteen lunch - loved the decor. Quiet, relaxed. Few kids. Hostess and waitress definitely got in a few Jungle Cruise puns which was fun. I had the fish collar which I thought was fantastic. I didn't care for the papaya slaw. Got a side of the shiitake fried rice which was OK. Sister loved the char sui pork - nothing like the Ah So sauce Mom bathed our pork chops in as kids. The Kungaloosh dessert was yummy. I would go back and try more - mostly because I loved how much of a quiet oasis it was in the middle of the MK.
Hollywood Brown Derby dinner - I was disappointed with this experience. The food was very good but I was expecting something more refined. It was loud and hectic. The music from the dance party in front of the Chinese Theater was really distracting. Maybe I'd go back for lunch.
Boathouse dinner - the food was delicious but we were seated in the front room and it was a little loud and hectic. Also, a screeching baby that the parents were ignoring was really jarring. I'd like to go back and sit somewhere else. The cornbread caramel, etc., etc., dessert was amazing and the lobster bisque was really good though lacking any lobster meat.
Akershus breakfast - I enjoyed Akershus. I liked the buffet with the cheese, fishes and pastries. It's fun to have some slightly unusual things. The plate of hot food with scrambled eggs, potato casserole, bacon and sausage was all good. Service was very good. The princesses were very nice and didn't slack off even though we were a table of adults.
Via Napoli lunch - Napoli was good. Not amazing but I liked it. The service was very good. Had the prosciutto and melon. The melon could have been a little riper. The pizza was good and I really enjoyed the Amarena cherry & vanilla gelato sundae.
Overall, we were very happy with the food and service throughout the World. No complaints.
