Hi All-
Back from free dining. Here's where we ate...
Liberty Tree Tavern
1900 Park Fare
Donald's Breakfast
Kona Cafe
'ohana Breakfast
Rose and Crown
Crystal Palace Breakfast
Spirit of Aloha
'ohana dinner
The restaurants were packed. Several times I saw people being turned away who did not have ADRs. There was no walk in availability at Kona, Rose and Crown, Liberty Tree Tavern, or 'ohana. Bottom line - make ADRs if you want to eat table service.
A concern among many people was the atmosphere with the dining plan. I will say we felt rushed at many meals. With drinks, apps, entree, and dessert at Kona we were out the door in just over one hour (maybe 65-70 minutes). At the 'ohana dinner we had to ask for additional items after the first round of skewers, and dessert was pushed very quickly. Again, in and out, this time in about 45-50 minutes.
Many posters have asked about the same things over and over with regards to the dining plan - I'll address what I remember.
-It was not hard to keep track of how many credits you have left. Everytime you purchase something using the dining plan the receipt displays how many credits you have available.
-Credits are not separated based on adult or child. I'm not saying you should use your child credits to purchase adult meals, just that there is no way to differentiate.
-Credits are easy to use. I've read many reports stating that people had 10 snacks left at the end of their vacation or were giving counter service meals away. This I don't get. We were at WDW for 7 nights. We had 21 of each credit. The snack credits were easily used on water and/or an ice cream each every day. We eat a TS at least once per day. We eat more than once per day leaving at least two counter service meals on which to spend our counter service credits. I think the plan is made out to be more difficult here than it actually is. That said, I won't use it again (most likely).
This trip was a celebration of our older dd beginning kindergarten next week hence the over-abundance of character meals and buffets. DH and I are going by ourselves in December and are looking forward to a lack of characters during meal time as well as to a server bringing food to our table! If you have any questions about the restaurants we ate at, please feel free to ask away!
Thanks!
