I'm staying at CP in March for a conference nearby. A good friend just found out she can get a really good airfare deal and she wants to join me (yay!). But she wants to know what there is to do in the area while I'm at my conference - mostly shopping, as she's not going to do Disney. She won't have a car, so we're talking walking distance, free shuttle or inexpensive cab ride. There's a Walgreen's across from the entrance, right? What else is within close range - LBV Factory Oulets? Premium Outlets? A new SuperTarget is down 535 - how far, and how much in cab fare would you say?

I need to know by tomorrow, because her decision is partly hinging on these things, and she needs to buy the ticket tomorrow!

Probably inexpensive cab ride to Downtown Disney..and yes the LBV Outlets are down the road but they arent "wonderful"..the Premium Outlet isnt too far either..I dont know how much they charge for taxis but it cant be anything horrendous.

Also there is a nice AMC theater at Downtown Disney and a cool Virgin Record store that can take some time just looking around there..some nice restaurants at Downtown Disney too

you may want to ask on the transportation board and see if its on the bus line. We have taken the bus before when we have stayed on International and its very resonable.

Thanks everyone.

I'm still open for any other tips for nearby places and how to get there without a car!

I happen to love LBV Outlets!!!! I think they are much better than the Premium Outlet - my Opinion...

you might consider doing one of shopping trips - but I can't say if it is worth it or not....

I think it was a Winn Dixie that was the grocery store in walking distance. Also, there was a Steak and Shake, Chinese place, Cheesesteak place, Joe's Crabshack. Now if you were willing to walk a longer ways, we did once, you cna get to Crossroads shoppign center that has a lot! Uno's, Red Lobster, Jungle Jim's, a mini golf place, etc.

I hate to say it, but she really, really needs a car. There is a lot in the area, but too far to walk. I love Cypress Pointe and know you will have a great time!!

There is a Lynx stop right at the entrance road.

In Lake Buena Vista, Lynx offers a very limited bus service that only leaves twice a day. The bus routes are 300, 301, 302, 303 and 304. No convenient! However, if you walk to Downtown Disney, take a Disney bus to the Transportation and Ticket Center and take either route 50 (To Sea World and I-Drive) or the route 56 to the US HWY 192 corridor. But is within walking distance. So, why not rent a car?

I noticed that about the Lynx! Bummer!

Can you really walk to Downtown Disney though, from Cypress Pointe? It looks pretty far!

She won't drive, for various reasons I won't get into. I'd drop her somewhere, but I need to be at my conference at 7.30 each morning, which is a bit early for her to be able to do much!

It's about a 2 mile walk to DTD. A bit of a hike, but there were many people doing it when we were there in November/December. It's definitely a scenic route once you get to the Disney welcome sign on 535.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but there's a Giordano's Pizza in the shopping mall. Good deep dish pizza.

I'll tell her to bring walking shoes!!

Glad to hear about the pizza - yum!

BTW ... she's definitely coming, so now I'm just info-gathering on her behalf!

also bring a backpack with water....2 miles in florida you are going to need water....

I think they offer shuttles (for a fee) from CP. She might like to take the shuttle over to Universal and check out City Walk. There are some stores and restaurants and a theater there. If it is not crowded could maybe take their boats over to their hotels and look around. They look at room keys now, though. I would call about shuttles to Universal or Downtown Disney, though. Other than that I would take a cab. No way would I do public transportation alone in a strange city. But, I am a fraidy cat.

HI,

why not rent a car at the airport. then your friend would be able to get around easily.

herc.
