We recently (Dec 4-8th) at the Clarion so thought I'd do a quick review. Our hotels are generally booked around price and I do try to get as close to the gates as I can. Last stay was the Desert Inn and Suites.
When I started looking for hotels for this weekend (April) the hotels were already pretty booked and pricey (found out later it was Candlelight weekend) so I decided to go with a very cheap option, the Clarion, after someone I know staying there and saying it was so easy with the TS shuttle across the street. The price I got for the Clarion was 100's cheaper than anything closer, so decided to try it, given we had some expensive things planned.
Our party- Myself, DH, 2 teens..
Front Desk-
Check-In- I believe it was around 8:30 at night? one party in front, didn't take long. Agent was pleasant.
I did call and ask them to have a card ready for DH the next day as he and DD15 were coming after myself- it was not ready upon arrival and then they couldn't find reservation as when they had added my Choice Account, it had changed the booking out of his last name, to my maiden name..a bit annoying
Check out- no issues paying most of the stay in cash, holds on my cc were removed within a couple of days.
Room- the category I booked on hotels.com said "suite, 1 king bed with sofa bed, corner" from my reading I knew it would still all be one room. The room was Huge! We did not feel crowded. The room was decently updated and had a mini fridge and microwave and small coffee pot. Our room was serviced every day. Soft towels! I was surprised by that. The bathroom was very dated and not updated but kept clean so I was fine with it.
Other Facilities- little gift shop- did buy an umbrella- a bit pricey but expected. We didn't use pool/restaurant.
In regards to getting to-from DL- I timed it both ways a couple of times and it took 15 minutes from getting on a bus at DL/the parking lot (there were always buses at both locations) to walking the short walk to the security/walking to the lobby of the hotel...not too bad at all! We do walk fast though.
Overall, if the close hotels are pricey again in the future, I will consider the Clarion/the area around as the TS buses were so easy to take.
