Quick cash/point ?

Can MS merge a cash res with a point res.

I have 8 days booked on points and the 9th day I want is not available for a point reservation. This same exact room "is" available for a cash reservation.

So I was thinking about booking the 1 extra night with cash.

BUT, I don't want to hope to not have to change rooms. Could MS merge the reservations under 1 confirmation number since they will both be the same room/view? Just like how they merge multiple point reservations if you have it.

Also can/should I call MS to book the cash room?

They can be linked if you book the cash room under DVC. There would still be separate confirmation #'s. I did it a couple of times awhile ago and it was treated as one stay.

I don't know why Disney would not allow its DVC members to merge points and cash reservations? I would think it would only help everyone.

The system should be able to see the following as 1 stay/confirmation #

June 22nd 18 points
June 23rd 18 points
June 24th $550
June 25th 18 points

The guest would get to comfort of knowing they got 1 reservation with all the days they needed.

Disney would get to book rooms faster as more people would feel comfortable booking cash/DVC stays if needed.

I hope they change this in the future.

As DebbieB already posted this morning, you can merge the points/cash reservations if reserved through MS. The DVC system does allow this. If you are reserving through another reservation system (aka - DRC), you can make a request that the two be connected, but that is only a request. DVC can link reservations made thru MS.

I talked to DVC today and the lady told me they can't and that I might even have to change rooms.

Should I call MS to book and link?

NOTE: I have yet to book the cash room.

Yes, call MS. Also ask if there is a discount on the cash res. for a DVC member. If there is not one at this time there may be one in the future, (depending on how far out this res. is for) so keep calling to ask about a discount. And did you waitlist for the one night?? I have not reserved a cash nite in a while but when I did it was charged at check-in NOT when I booked it. This MAY have changed?? Good luck! Joan

I waitlisted the 1 night. I'll call MS tomorrow.

If my waitlist comes in I'm guessing it wont be a problem to cancel the cash night?
