Do unused disposable cameras go in your carryons or checked luggage? If they camera is not fully used, where does it go for the return trip?

Thanks for taking pity on my poor memory and helping me out!

Doesn't really matter, as even the X-Ray that's used at the security area of the airport is film safe now. But why not save space and put it in check-in bags.

i can't say with 100% sure, but don't put anything with any type of film or just a roll of film in your checked luggage. I'm know you can't with used rolls, unsure of unused but why chance it and have to throw away the rolls? (or worse yet use em and they not work)

Thanks so much for the quick replies! We will definitely be putting the cameras in the carry-ons.

My ds would be devastated if he couldn't use his very own camera or the photos didn't turn out... :)

I work at the One Hour Photo at Sams Club. I have seen many rolls of filme ruined by the x-ray machines at the airport. They cause discolorization and the black levels to be off. I know they say that the x-rays will not harm the film, but I have seen it ruin film so many times, that I would rather be safe than sorry. Just have the film on your carry on or something like that, so you can avoid them going through an x-ray.

NEVER put any kind of unused or undeveloped film in checked bags! The powerful x-ray machines used on checked bags will ruin any film, of any speed, every time, just like opening the film canister and exposing it to bright lights.

Unexposed or undeveloped film, including disposable cameras, should be packed in a clear plastic bag and given to the TSA screeners at the security checkpoint for hand inspection. They should not go through the carry-on x-ray scanner - the carry-on scanner can damage film, too, just not as badly as the checked bag scanner.
