Quick AP Question

I am purchasing an AP online. I understand that I will need to go to Guest Services before entering the park on the day I activate.

My question is will I receive some kind of number showing I have an AP now so I can purchase DAH tickets at a discount tonight?

Don't you have to purchase it through Disney? I think your AP will be linked to your MDE as soon as you buy it, so I think yes.

ETA-- I guess I shouldn't answer because I'm just guessing!

That’s what I’m assuming but want to be sure. I could purchase discounted tickets and then bridge when I get to the park. But I want to buy the DAH tickets tonight with a discount.

I purchased an AP on line and it was linked to my account right away and I could see it in my MDE. Not sure about the DAH though.

I think it should be linked in MDX right away you’ll be able to buy the DAH ticket with an AP discount, but I’m not totally sure about that. If it won’t let you buy with a discount online, then I’d suggest calling to buy the DAH ticket.

FWIW, some people on the DAH thread have reported buying a full priced DAH ticket, buying an AP later, then going to Guest Relations to get a refund of the discount amount. No personal experience but it’s evidently possible (although does require the time/effort to go to Guest Relations, which can be time consuming at times).

The situation with AP certificates (un-activated AP purchases) is that if guest does have one, he can hold on to it, unactivated, for many years.

So, it is possible that getting an "AP discount" for certain purchases, may or may not be honored until such time that the AP is finally activated.

Ok, it's possible. In my experience after I have purchased the AP, but not yet activated it, I was able to purchase party tickets with the AP discount and book a room with the AP discount.

Sounds good.
My point is that so many details can figure into what is and is not "allowed."

And definitely, guests can book AP discounted rooms.
ANYBODY can book AP discounted rooms, even without a purchased AP certificate.
The AP is only necessary once the guest is at WDW.

I also have an AP question. i currently have the weekday only AP that expire on 4/4/18. We are goin to Disney the week of 4/15/18 and need to upgrade our AP before we go. I called Disney and they said I would have to purchase the pass 60 days prior to get fastness+ for our trip.

My question is....if I buy the AP on 2/10/18 - will it just extend my original AP until 4/4/19? Can I do this online or do I have to go to Disney to do this?

Disney linked our APS to our MDE when we called immediately and we were able to by DAH tickets at the discount and I will activate our pass when we get there next week.
