multiply the whole thing by 6 (I think whole numbers are easier)
6(1/6y + 33) = 6(5-y)
y + 198 = 30 - 6y

add out the 6y
7y + 198 = 30

subtract out the 198
7y = -168

divide by 7
y = (-168/7) = -24
