I'm a newbie to Disboard, and had a couple of questions....
We've been interested in the DVC for awhile, but would like to stay at one of the villas to be able to check it out. Is that a possibility? Can points be used by non-DVC members? Or is there another mechanism?
Is there DVC benefits/programs at Disneyland or surrounding areas?
We have a family of five (3 kids under 12) and was wondering generically what costs/restrictions/benefits might be for a program that would be good for us. What kinds of restrictions are there on the DVC? Block out dates?
TIA, just wanted to get some background info. on the DVC!

Here's a link to the disboards Q&A section regarding DVC:

You can rent a villa, either from the general Disney reservation center, or from a member. One source could be the DVC rent trade board. So, yes, points can be used by non-DVC members.

There are point charts for using DVC points at DisneyLand, I don't know much about that, but there seems to be a sale for the celebration year on the number of points necessary to stay at DL. Members do get some WDW discounts, including a very good one for an Annual Pass.

There are no black out dates, but the number of points varies throughout the year, and Friday and Saturday night stays are much more costly than the other nights.

I'm sure others will help you, too!
