OK just wondering how much CASH people actually spend when on a cruise? Being Canadian - I like to watch the value of the dollar and right now it is fairly high so I went bought some US$ today. We are on the 4 day Wonder and are driving to the Port. I am a huge credit card user - just so much easier to pay it all when the statement comes in. So what I am wondering is do I need a whole lot of cash?

The ship is actually "cashless" - you use your "Key To The World Card" (room key) for all on board ship charges. Then at the end you can pay by credit card - even your tips can be added to your account. You may want some cash for the baggage handlers at the port for when you arrive (you will drop off your luggage at the curb with them and then go and park your car), and perhaps some for when you are in Nassau, but otherwise all your on-board charges can be paid by credit card at the end. Hope this helps!

You can also put the cash into the stateroom account if you wish, if you don't wish to pay be credit card or pay less on the credit card.

You will need cash for the following:

-Tips to porters at the port when you arrive

-room service tips.

While they can be put on your ship account for drinks that cost money, for free items (food, etc) they don't present a charge for you to sign so $1 - $2 or so in cash is appropriate.

-small items on shore. The US dollar speaks volumes on shore in the islands, etc and it is a good idea to have some on hand for those vendors, small shops etc that don't do credit cards.

-Tips to porters at the port when you depart.

-Tips for skycaps at airport (if you choose to use them).
