We are getting married in December of 2008! :cool1: We are both totally thrilled to be getting married at Disney. We began planning already. We basically picked out the type of wedding. We also began creating the 'wish' book. We are choosing the Escape package because that is what works best for us. We choose to get married at Sunset Pointe because it looks very romantic and is an outside setting. We also chosen to have Mickey and Minnie attend; thus, we are paying $1,200 extra. We are just totally excited. We didn't book anything or purchase anything yet. We just have the price.

What to we do now? We are lost now.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

PS: Is there a FAQ thread?

Hey we've just decided to get married in WDW with the escape package in December 2008 too!

We're doing 12/8, Sea Breeze Point (hypothetically). I would prefer Sunset Point, but our guest count is too high right now, but I'm secretly hoping some of his family can't make it... :rolleyes1 I would also be interested in the Wilderness Lodge... if any one reading would like add some input.

Right now, I'm mostly just lurking on the wedding board until December. Then, I'll get the ball rolling with contacting the Planner, since I think you can't reserve the location until 1 year out, (8 months for Pavillion?).

Totally based on the boards, we're going to use Randy Chapman for our wedding, and do the alternate photo shoot with Disney... so I'll be contacting him after speaking with the Planner as well.

I'm looking at reviews of cake flavors, reception dinner locations, listening to my disney soundtracks... until we decided to go to WDW for our wedding, I was just kind of "meh" with the whole wedding thing, but now... Look Out!

Congrats to both of you on your upcoming wedding!

DisneyFan06 - there isn't really an FAQ thread. The search is sketchy at best so we don't mind seeing the same questions over and over!;) Don't worry about asking any questions you have!

Your next step would be to call Disney at about the 1 year mark to book whatever you can. Some brides have called earlier but I've seen mixed results with that (some brides are "pencilled in" and some aren't...it depends on which CM happens to answer the phone).

Your first call will most likely just be a brief one to make the initial "reservation". After that you will be contacted by a Sales Manager who will get some more details about your plans. Later you will be assigned a Wedding Coordinator who will be your primary contact while planning your wedding. Most likely you will also talk to someone from Disney floral and photography (if you use Disney) to work out some of the more specific details.

It will seem to take forever to get your information from Disney...be patient! The Fairy Tale Wedding department has the coordination of Escape weddings down to a science and can really plan them in as little as 60 days or so (if necessary). Obviously most brides stress long before that!

In the meantime, ask as many questions as you can...read as many threads as you can...learn as much as you can!

Hey, we should start or change this to a 'December 2008 Escape Wedding' Thread :goodvibes
Just wanted to share we also have called Disney regarding our intentions, but we have just received a couple of generic emails with ads, prompting us to visit the site and fill our wish book (which we already have done, of course). I'm just waiting for december to call again.

We are intending the wedding pavillion, 12/04 (hey maybe cheerleders from pop warner week can cheer in our ceremony) :)
We're pretty much staying with the basic package, just adding the mk photo shoot. So far we have picked and started paying the dress, and for the moment just reading TR and general advise on this boards.

And just to comment something funny and clueless  (not that I'm trying to hijack the thread :rotfl: )

When we told FMIL about our decision, we noted she was not very excited or enthusiastic. She even told us she wan't sure if she could go to the wedding . We thought it was strange that she was acting so cold until about a month ago. My DF found out that FMIL thought the wedding was not for real. She beleived that Mickey or some character would do a mock up ceremony and that's it, so she didn't see the point on all the fuzz. Now that she understands that her daugther (sp?) is marrying for real, is very enthusiastic. :goodvibes

My DF's family thought the same thing. If I had a penny for everytime one of them asked if we'd be married by Goofy :headache:

Seriously though, call DFTW again. Ask for Joe DeMattei (he's awesome!). Say that a friend of yours had him as a coordinator and you'd like him to call you to discuss your own wedding. You're a little over a year out and that's definitely NOT too early to be calling. You can at least discuss your options and get penciled in on your date. Then when the year mark comes around, if theres someone else who wants your date/time/location they'll do a little "lottery" to pick who gets it... so you gotta get your name in!
