OK, so my WONDERFUL in-laws have booked us a 1 bedroom at OKW for Jan. 6-12 using their points that were set to expire anyhow. (I will be kissing up for the rest of my marriage I assure you.)

Aside from the fact that every detail needs to be planned by either my father or mother in-law is there anything else I should know? Anything I should do? Not do?

This is my first trip to Disney that I am planning myself, and the extra rules and things that come along with staying at a DVC property are making my head spin.

If you want to be close to the main building, they should have reserved "near hospitality house" which is a booking category. They also need to add the Disney Dining Plan and Disney's Magical Express prior to your trip. DDP at least 2 days and DME 30 days.

I know my father in-law requested a first floor room because my handicapped aunt will be traveling with us.

We are going to get the dining plan, but if he has to request it, how do I pay for it?

Too funny!! :lmao:

You've never met my MIL. You have NO idea.

I went with them once 5 years ago during lent. She made sure that she bought my husband, myself, and his two brothers soy burgers for lunch that Friday. After which we RAN and found a hot dog stand and yards of beer.

You pay at check in. You can pay by cash, credit or debit card or Disney Dollars or Disney gift cards.

Have a wonderful time!

OK, thanks for the info. I'm super confused and overwhelmed by all this. And my FIL, who is doing all this for us, doesn't have the gift of communication, shall we say? :rotfl:

Oh my. You are among friends. Feel free to come visit any time!

It's not that hard. You still make your own ADRs, they request DDP....you pay upon arrival. The in-laws arrange DME...if you aren't renting or driving a car. If you want daily maid service....they set that up too.

I think, all that's left is for ya'll is to have a "magical day"!!!

Don't let the opportunity spin your head. Upon arrival, put yourself in the hands of the CM, ask your questions, select your options, then relax!

I agree with Muushka, visit the DISboards anytime/everytime you have a question. Abreviations can be found at the top of the thread listings, as we sometimes forget there are those that struggle with DDP, DTD, ADRs, AP; but never with MOUSE.

You are getting some really good advice from the super knowledgeable dissers. Just be sure you don't tell your MIL about the boards! She might get a tad miffed at all the comments! Have wonderful trip. It is truly the 'Happiest Place on Earth"! :goodvibes

You can do your own dining ressies. You just need the confirmation # as your name should have been placed on the reservations all ready.

I'm not a big fan of the HH location in a 1 b/r due to the bathroom situation. Especially in the OP's situation (travelling with aunt).

Pardon me for butting in...but what is the bathroom situation with a 1 br near the HH? We are staying at OKW for the first time in January, and have requested the HH location. Is this same situation a problem with a 2 br? Thanks for your help...and again, my apologies for butting in. :flower3:

The only access into the bathroom is through the MBR.

The above post is correct. Only buildings 30 and above have access to the bathroom from the common area and the master bedroom of the 1 bedroom. A two bedroom will have a second bathroom for the second bedroom. Also, if they have mobility issues buildings 62, 63, and 64 have elevators. These buildings are relatively close to the Hopitality House. Here is a map to show you where the buildings are :

Is it just your husband and you....or are their kids also. The 1 bedrooms at OKW are quite spacious, but theoretically only sleep 4.

If you are not renting a car, the Magical Express needs to be booked ahead, which I would assume your in-laws know. There are luggage tags that you will get so that your bags get to your room.

January is a nice time of year, can get chilly, so make certain you bring layers. I have 2 kids, and we always pack clothes for 4 days, and then 1/2 way through I do laundry...this way we can pack light.

Since you are traveling with your in-laws, you might want to check at the desk if you can put your credit card on your room key, just to keep expenses separate.

If you are planning on eating anywhere without them, you should look at the dis-restaurant link and figure out where, so you can book your ADL's as soon as you can. Although, January is a slow period down there, so you really shouldn't have too much of a problem there.

I guess my best piece of advice is to try and stay abreast of what they are doing, so you can plan your days accordingly.

Have a great time!!!

Cheryl
