So, I've been to WDW twice... once as an adult... and I got lots of advice from Tour Guide Mike. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a site for DL too...

I'm curious when I have to make reservations for any character dining, and which two or three would be best for a 5 year old and 2 year old girls...

we are going the first of March...

what hotel would you reccomend?

Is there any tips I should know about seating for parades?

We will only be there 3 days... I think anyhow.

Is there a hotel we can get transportation to the park from?

What else should I be asking!

Hotels: many people would recommend onsite hotels, ie Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, and Grand Californian. Ofc, if your at a budget, then these might not be such a great option.
Transportation: Many have shuttles like Sheraton... there is also a local transit as well, but many hotels are close enough to just walk.
Parade: its easy to find a spot... i usually stand behind ppl who are sitting down. the hardest is to find a place to sit during the fireworks.
Questions: umm, sit down resturants? i dunno... im just guessing :)

My comments/answers are in blue! Hopefully others will chime in too! :wave2:

I'm curious when I have to make reservations for any character dining, and which two or three would be best for a 5 year old and 2 year old girls... I believe you can make reservations 30 days before (please correct me if I am wrong!) and I would make them ASAP. I vote for Goofy's Kitchen (spontaneous character fun, awesome buffet and lots of interaction) for breakfast/brunch, and if you are visiting DCA - Ariel's Grotto (princess characters, great food) for lunch.

we are going the first of March... I have heard that is a great time to go :sunny:

what hotel would you reccomend? Offsite: Best Western Park Place Inn.

Is there any tips I should know about seating for parades? I can't think of anything other than just get there early!

Is there a hotel we can get transportation to the park from? Park Place Inn is right across the street from the main entrance, no shuttles! :thumbsup2

DLR is not as complicated as WDW and a need for a TGM equivalent just does not exist. But there are resources. I discuss many of them here: "A DLR Guide for WDW Vets" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1162599

You can make these ressies 60 days in advance. I believe there are five choices at DLR. Can't help you with which is best for your situation.

Lots of hotel advice in the DLR Guide link above. In general I recommend a nearby hotel within easy walking distance.. See "HydroGuy's Hotel Rule" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1199862

Not really. It will not be all that crowded when you go. Just be aware that if there are two parades on a particular day, DL runs them in opposite directions each time. If you are into show stops, you will need to do some research on DLR forums for where the show stops are. They will be different for each direction.

One of the biggest advantages DLR has over WDW are how close the hotels are to the parks. Many are within easy walking distance. While WDW vets are accustomed to buses, shuttles and trams, they are not necessary at DLR and IMO should be avoided. See my "Hotel Rules" above.

Probably yes. If you have the patience to read my DLR Guide I cover many of the things you might not think to ask.
