Questions regarding Social Security

Don't write us off just yet. New demands will show themselves out of the ashes and there will be new suppliers able to meet these demands quickly, and easily. Right now we've been sucker punched and it takes time for people to recognize they NEED to change, once people actually change instead of waiting for someone to come long and restore the 'old' ways the world will start moving again. Trouble is most people are just plain stubborn and inflexible... the more stubborn and inflexible the more shallow the learning curve and the longer this lasts. The industrial revolution was catastrophic until people learned how to manage in the new world as opposed to fighting it.

Social Security is useful because it provides for those too old or otherwise incapable of changing with the times.

Really, this is very interesting. Would this hold true for retired grandparents that legally adopt their grand kids because if so, it might make a whole lot of kids' lives much better.

Yes, it does hold true for grandparents who adopt their grandchildren. I had a customer who did just that so they could get the extra social security. His wife had died and it was just him and the 2 teenagers and he was pushing 90. He really needed the money as he was getting nothing from their parents.
