Questions regarding gaming systems

As far as which is better, that is all personal preference. Take him to walmart and see which one he goes to first. Personally I have a PS3 and love it, as far as all the nerdy computer/gaming stuff goes, the PS3 is the superior console. DH and I watch TV shows through the Wifi and of course the BluRay movies. However i do have small girly hands and find the 360's controller to big to comfortably use and that is my biggest gripe with the 360. But I would honestly take him to walmart or target and see which one he goes to first.

Thanks for this. We are debating between the Xbox and PS3.

The BluRay will be a useless feature for us. DS rarely watches movies plus this will be hooked up to an old analog TV so BluRay won't make a difference.

I like the Live feature of Xbox although DS only knows three boys that have that. Over time, I think more will use that feature.

His best friend has a PS3. Isn't the "live" difference that you can't talk on the PS3 like you can on the Xbox?

DS is 13. We have been looking through games for both systems trying to decide which ones have a better selection.

I suggested getting the Xbox and letting Grandma get him a PS2 since those are in her budget. That way, he would have both systems. His beef with that was that there are a couple good games coming out strictly for the PS3 so he leans toward just getting the PS3 and skipping the Xbox (and PS2, of course).

Playstation is developing an in game chat system. For right now, it's based on if the game is played online, and if the developers put it in.

Crash Commando, RockBand, Street Fighter, King of Fighters, and a ton more already have in game chat. There's also the Playstation Home, which is like a huge chat room. You can use a mic or a keyboard to type to talk to other people in the room.

I'm not positive on all the parental controls, but I'd assume it's along the same lines of Xbox.

DS has Xbox and plays on an analog tv with no problems. When I need to, I just take the battery pack out of his controller. It's smaller and easier to take with me. ;) I like the idea of just taking the cord. Xbox Live Gold can be found cheaper on Amazon a few times a year. We're still working on some parental controls with Live--wish it had more!
