Questions re: Memory Cards

I have a Canon A610 which takes a SD Card. Everyone is telling me to get the largest size SD that I can afford. But I hear that some have problems if they are too large, be it the brand of the camera or the memory card.

I found a GREAT deal on a SanDisk Ultra II SD 2GB memory card. Should I just go for it and not worry? Or should I just stick with a 1GB in the same brand?

What is a "Great Deal" to you? Here is a page of 2gb SD cards that are under $50 without any rebates to worry about:

2gb cards usually don't cause problems, you see it more with 4gb cards.
