Hi Everyone,

I am new to the boards and wondering if someone could help answer a few questions. Apologies if I am repeating questions already somewhere else on the board, I searched and didn't find it.

We have booked an Intimate Wedding at the Pavilon for the beginning of February. Waiting for assignment for EM and planning packet.

Is Commander's Terrace decorated for the cake and champagne reception? We didn't think it looked nice at all when we saw it. Have past intimate brides and grooms been happy with it?

We are planning to have a dinner afterwards. We really wanted to go to Citrcos, but it is closed on Mondays. Any suggestions of another resort restaurant (want to wear my dress) that would give more of a feel of a reception? We looked at pictures of the Yachtman's Steak Club, it looks very casual. Also concerned about all of us being seated together, (16 total), has that been a problem for anyone?

We were considering a custom, but want to use Randy Chapman and STVS for photo and video, which won't count towards the minimum and the room night requirement just makes it too expensive.

Sorry that this is long, thanks in advance for any responses and/or comment.

Not exactly sure about Commander's Terrace, but I bet you have to decorate it yourself.

We are having a small custom Vow Renewal in December (barely meeting the 25 room night minimum) and are considering either the Sonoma or Napa room at the California Grill for our farewell dinner. Don't know your time of day, but the minimums for these rooms, especially the Sonoma Room aren't too bad. The info I got two weeks ago said for Sonoma Room and Napa room, $1,000 before 4:00 p.m. and $2,000 for Sonoma and $3,000 for Napa after 6:00 p.m. They have some wonderful menu choices and if it is in the evening you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

The Attic @ the Boardwalk is also very nice. We are having our welcome reception there the night before the ceremony. If you eat there in the daytime, the minimum is $2,000 Sunday thru Thursday.

We are also using Randy for our photos and Stan for our video!!!

If you have other questions, just email me. Lisa

We had our intimate wedding on 2/6/03 - from that I can tell you that Commander's Terrace is decorated. The cake table is off to one side, there are 2 flower arrangements on either side of the table. On our day, they happened to match my bouquet colors:) There are tablecloths on the tables as well. Nothing extensive, but enough that it looked nice for the 15-20 min. that you're there. We went there on another trip and were surprised at how bare it looks normally, so I know where you're coming from.

We had a noon wedding, and wanted something close to that time so we had tea at the GF. We were not able to sit together - something I hadn't asked about beforehand. It worked out for us due to family reasons; but if you do want to sit together I'd ask your coordinator once you get one. I think it was a problem in the tea room because there's not a lot of room (unless you wanted to buy it out of course!). I don't think it would be an issue elsewhere.

What about Artist Point at the WL for dinner? Or the private room at Victoria and Albert's if you wanted something nicer?

HTH and have fun planning:)

I have looked at other intimate Bride's pictures at this location and it seems nice. Since it is outside I think the "decoration" is the view of the seven seas lagoon and the beach. My suggestion is to look at the pictures of the receptions of past brides, it will give you a good idea of what it will look like.
Our Vow renewal is May 26th and our reception will be held there - so I sure hope it is nice! I was glad to see there will be flowers on the table with the Cake since the only flowers we specified were the flowers included in the package - (the bride and groom flowers).

We are having our Intimate VR next year at the WP with the cake reception at the Terrace. The only decoration will be the cake table, some flowers on the cake table, and tablecloths on the small tables. I don't think you can decorate it, because they run so many parties through there and you are not there for all that long. We may just see about having our cake taken to Narcoossee's where we are planning on having dinner, followed by a Wishes cruise with desserts and more champagne. ;) We also considered the CA Grill for dinner before deciding on Narcoossee's.

Hi,

Thank you all for your responses. I have a better idea of what the Commander's Terrace will look like when it decorated for a wedding.

It sound like everyone has been happy with the way their intimate weddings were done. I know I am driving my DH2B crazy with my worrying about the details. We haven't figured out the dinner plans yet. The ceremony is at 4:00 pm at the WP. Was thinking of going to the California Grill because of the fireworks, but I don't know about timing and the priority seating with a group. Our wedding date is February 6th (diswedwish - same date!), and I think MK closes no later than 6:00pm that time of year. Also thinking about 1200 Park Fare, more casual, but less expensive, and then we could do the Illuminations dessert party or cruise? I've heard that as an intimate bride I can't wear my dress though? Is this true? I know that normally wedding attire is not allowed in the parks. I haven't gotten a EM yet, so there are so many question unanswered, you guys are my lifesavers!

Did any of you intimate brides feel like you had to choose a plainer dress because it wasn't a custom wedding with a reception? I saw a maggie sottero gown that i love, but don't know if it is too much.

Sorry this is so long, I am all over the place!!

Best wishes to you all, and many thanks.

I think you should wear whatever dress you want to wear. It doesn’t matter if your wedding is small or large—you should wear what you feel best in. ::yes::

I told my guests they could wear whatever, but I'm wearing the dress of my dreams. :goodvibes

intimates can not wear their dress to an illuminations dessert party or anywhere in the wdw themeparks or themepark restaurants. you can wear your wedding dress on an illuminations or mk specialty cruise & at the resorts though.

Thanks for your input and info - Good to know where and where I cannot wear my dress, and I am going for the dress that I love !!

BTW, You both look like beautiful princesses in your pictures!!!! :flower:
