Questions Re: Halloween at Fort Wilderness

So, I have a few questions, if anyone has the answers, I'd be very thankful.

- Can guests of other Disney resorts visit the campground to see the decorations (and maybe the golf cart parade)?
- Are the campgrounds hard/lengthy to walk?
- Could you drive to the campground and park near like a central site or something, or would you be better off catching a boat or bus from another location?
- Has anyone done this?

We are arriving at our own resort (Grand Floridian villas) on Halloween, and I thought it might be fun/interesting to go and check out the decorations at the campsites. Trick-or-Treating isn't really an issue, as our only child is a year old.

Yes, guest not staying at FW can and do visit FW for various reasons: dining, campfire, movie, sightseeing, etc...

- Are the campgrounds hard/lengthy to walk?

There are many paved paths to get around the campground and easy to walk, but if you plan to walk through the various campground loops, then you could be doing quite a bit of walking. Many people use the buses to get between sections and then walk around. Here is a map if you have not seen the setup of FW: FW Map.

- Could you drive to the campground and park near like a central site or something, or would you be better off catching a boat or bus from another location?

If you drive, then you must park in the parking lot at the main entrance. Only guests may drive there cars and then they are parked at there camp or cabin site.

If you are staying at GF, then you could take the boat from GF to MK and then the boat from MK to FW or you could take the monorail to the Contemporary and then take the boat to FW.

Now, if you are planning specifically for Halloween night, you might want to take the boats as it is possible that they could restrict entry to FW on that night. It does not happen often at FW, but there are times, where if the parking lot is filling up at the main entrance, they will restrict entry.

Many people go to FW for various reasons when they are not staying on at FW. I have not, but that is because 3 of my trips have been stays at the cabins at FW and the other trips just did not work in my favor to make it to FW.
