At great risk, I ask the following rhetorical questions -- (with tongue in cheek, sort of..)

- Which line should I get in at Topsider's? right? left? Which goes faster and has more food selection?

- In the cabins, what are the dimensions of the windows, as I am getting ready to make curtains for our 7-day stay (it has to feel just like home, you know)?

- What colors should I wear in the restaurants? I don't want to clash with the decor, offend anyone, make anyone sick, or stick out like a sore thumb?

- What writing instrument should I use to fill out my cruise documents? Oh, maybe it says use blue or black ink -- would that be roller ball, ball point, or what? I can't decide!

- People are offended when children play around with the elevator buttons. Would they be upset if I did that? I tend to act like a child when I'm on vacation, you know. And, if I do this, which elevators would be the least/more likely to offend/not offend everyone -- the ones at aft, mid-ship, or what's the other part of the ship?

- Is there a doctor on board? This is extremely important, as I think I will more than likely finally have a nervous breakdown once I'm on board. All this planning is taking a toll on me. Why can't I just relax and let things come what may? This is a VACATION after all!!??

Just some thoughts that too much planning can sometimes take the joy out of your relaxation -- and just think what it's doing to the rest of your family...

This is all said tongue in cheek, so don't get too upset and flame the heck out of me -- although I have to admit there's a lot of truth to it, too! ;)

Flame you? I love you! You've expressed with great humor what (I believe) many of us have been thinking!

I am sitting here at my desk cracking up. Thanks for the levity!

:)

Well when I first saw these I was actually thinking good question. I never really thought of which line to get in at Topsiders.
However, I did think carefully of what colors to wear in Parrot Cay. I have 2 identical tropical dresses - 1 tan, 1 lime green. Thought the lime green would be too green next to the characters at the char brkfst so I'll wear the tan then and the lime green at dinner - lol
Nope - would never consider making curtains so dont need to obsess over that one
If youre going to play with the elevators, please dont use the front elevator as that is closest to our secret porthole room.
Wont be needing a nervous breakdown - just lots of tropical drinks. Hey, I quit Labor Day and Im not having a drink till we leave for the airplane! Although people have told me Id be better if I had one now - lol
And this is why DH refuses to even discuss this cruise with me!!

LOL! I didn't notice at first that you were joking and I was wondering what kind of person would be making curtains for their stateroom for 7 days!! Omigosh. The part about the pens finally clued me in that the post was in jest. *whew*

It is a good reminder to all of us that the line between planning and obsessing can become very thin indeed.

Thanks for the laugh.

Peggy

Yes, some of the questions asked on this board seem obvious, trivial, or obsessive, but they aren't that way to the person who's asking. Remember, we tell folks that the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.

Pretty funny, FOJMO.

But, I do agree with what Dave said... there is no stupid question. And remember, obsessing for some of us is fun! We enjoy it! We're not just getting a week of Disney fun, we might be getting a year of it. :)

Now, if you can tell me what category cabin you have I can send you the pattern from the curtains I made. LOL. j/k

There are not words to describe how funny this post is. I am cracking up here. :)

You forgot "Does anyone have a copy of the menus each night? We woud like to look them over and decide what we will order every night! I am such a planner!!!"

*duck*

Kathy

Yup - I printed out all the menus from Barb & Dave's sites. Ive recently been thinking of giving them up!

Love your post! It really does make me "Wonder" why it is necessary for some to plan every waking (sleeping, too) moment of the cruise. While there is lots of good information on this board, I can't even fathom trying to schedule how/what/when I will be doing every second of the cruise. That just sucks the fun right out of vacation, and sets you up for disappointment if things don't go as planned. I have to plan my days at home and at work, but let's throw out the daily planner on vacation. I will simply be "going with the flow" and will enjoy whatever comes my way. Less than 3 weeks and counting! :Pinkbounc

imgoingtodisney.....I think the tan might be too much tan next to the characters at the breakfast.....Chip and Dale are Tan/Brown and you don't want to get "lost" in the picture. Maybe the green would be better for the character breakfast. LOL..just kidding...I also wore black and white each night we were in Animators and wore very bright clothes in Parrot Cay. I like to match the theme of the rest.

In case anyone is WONDERING....the left line at Topsiders does seem to go faster....everyone seems to gravitate toward the right. You can enter Topsiders either on the Port or Starboard side of the ship. I have noticed that the left side on each line goes faster....though the foods selections seem to be identical on each side!!!!! I am sure some inquiring minds do want to know!!!

MJ

I forget where I read it but I remember reading a hint for amusement parks once that said the left line always goes faster because people normally gravitate towards the right. Your post reminded me of our trip to WDW last year. Whenever we got to a line the kids would test the go left theory and it usually ended up being the shorter line.

FOJMO - I can't tell you how much laughter this post has brought DH and I. Thank you!

I just have to say that I USED to be a planning freak. But this last trip, we went with the flow alittle more. The kids were on their own having a blast. DH and I just did what we wanted to do. We checked the navigator each day and made tentative plans just so we knew what our options were. Our most fun times were....sitting by the quiet pool, playing shuffleboard, and all the evening activities. We had fun with other stuff but the unexpected pleasures are the best!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That's us too! Very, very little planning. The only thing I did was figure out what days/times we want various Palo reservations (depending on which rotation we get). Other than that we're winging it. We haven't even booked excursions. I have visited various websites and looked at menus and navigators, but only for fun.

On our last cruise (Wonder 4-day) I planned everything for everybody and found that I was always worried about making sure the plan went smoothly. This time I want a week of relaxation. I'll take a look at the next day's Navigators each night and see what looks interesting. And I'll spend lots of time in one of those comfy chairs on Deck 4 with a good book!

Ohhhhh Myyyyy!!!!!

ROTFLOL!!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Too funny!!

But hey, when you have MONTHS to wait, looking forward to your cruise... Then how do you pass the time, except for obsessing!!!!

And, I am with you Michellemouse.... We all have the one or two little things that are like SOOOOOO important... And for me, being first in line to get the coveted PALO reservations that we want, well that is the biggie. (But, what color goes best with PALO's decor?????? LOL!!!!!! )

Dave - Once again THANK YOU!!! All of us newbies are here looking for info, so how nice to remind us all that no question is a stupid one.

OKAY! That was soooo funny!
My husband tells everyone that he doesn't need to actually go on the cruise because he feels like he's already been on it because of my obsessive planning, reading and investigating!!
That was really cute! And since we do have so many months to wait it helps with the pressure of having to wait so long!
