As a veteran of the Disney USA experience (please read my trippie!!) my DW and I have decided to give our grandkids their first experience of Disney, by taking them to DLP in March. There will be my oldest son and his wife, with their two children aged 3 and 2, together with my youngest son aged 13 and my other grandson aged 14. We are every bit as excited about this as we were when we went to America last year, but as we have not been to the Paris one for many years (when it first opened) we are complete novices and need as much advise as possible - where to eat, avoiding queues etc. We are travelling bu Eurostar on the 25th March, and I believe we have a change at Lille - is this a major inconvenience and does it mean we miss out on the baggage handling service? Whats it like on the Eurostar? the young ones do not have their own seats so is there plenty of room for them to sit on our knees? We are stsaying at Sequoia Lodge, what's it like? What time do they start serving breakfast? The kids are early risers, so we will most likely want to take advantage of the EMH. Where are the best places for character meet & greets? Where are the best places to eat with the kids? I am tempted by Cafe Mickey in the village, is this the best place for character interaction? Will I be able to get a birthday cake for my wife, as it's her birthday on our arrival day? Whats the pool like at the lodge, and what are it's opening hours? - So many questions, but as you will see from my previous trippie, I like to be well organised to enjoy every single second of the experience, and I will certainly be writing a full report when we get back, to help other novices with their planning. Any advise that anyone can offer us would be greatly appreciated.

I think the breakfast starts at 7am in the hotel slots are available at check in. I like the Sequioa Lodge, it has lovely themeing & the surrounding area is very tranquil.

I have stayed at the hotel several time but have never used the pool, as I never found the time. You will be told the opening times when you check in.

I personally find the best place for character interactions is the Studios as it tends to be quieter in this park compared to the main one.

I have never eaten at Cafe Mickey but it has been recommended by others here.

Hope that helps.:thumbsup2

What a lovely treat for your grandkids!! :yay:

I've only ever caught the direct Eurostar but I'm sure someone else will be able to help you out with changing at Lille. The Express luggage service only works with the direct train but it's not too much of an inconvenience to take your luggage to the hotel yourself ~ the shuttle buses are waiting right outside the train station.

I've eaten dinner at Cafe Mickey twice ~ both times it's been great fun and we enjoy the food too. :thumbsup2 They also do character lunch and breakfast, we've also enjoyed our character lunches at the Lucky Nugget. There's a character tea at Plaza Gardens in the afternoon where you could order a birthday cake for your wife, or you can order a cake at Cafe Mickey and other restaurants.

Have a look at our Restaurant FAQ sticky for reviews and check out dlpfoodguide for an idea of where you fancy eating, menus and prices.

I'll keep you to that trippie :thumbsup2 we love long detailed trippies on here with lots of photos ;)
I'll have a read of your one in your link later. :)

Thanks for that - please be sure to read my trippie when you have an hour or two to spare!! That was truly our dream holiday & one we are planning to repeat next year for my DW's 40th birthday. I am so excited about taking my grandkids - it's a first for the younger two, but they are both already Disney mad. My older Grandson, Jordan, has been to America, but is awaiting a heart lung transplant, so his chances of getting back there are very slim, so I want to make it as special as possible.

You will see from my trippie that I love to take hundreds of photo's but another question I have thought of is whether they run the photo pass scheme at DLP, as this was brilliant in America?

EMH is definitely worth getting up for to beat the queues also you can usually ride POC in the eveing with no queue (and often the chance to stay on for a 2nd ride)

Just read your trip report and wow sounds amazing. It brought back lots of memories from our WDW trips (Sorry off topic I know but its definitely worth a read)

We are stsaying at Sequoia Lodge, what's it like? What time do they start serving breakfast?
It's a nice hotel. BF starts at 7.

The kids are early risers, so we will most likely want to take advantage of the EMH. Where are the best places for character meet & greets?

Make sure you check the park maps, but a lot of character meet & greets are not in it. Usually you can also meet some at Adventureland (at Colonel Hathis) and at Fantasyland (Small World). There's a new character location in Frontierland: Woody's Roundup (near Cowboy Cookout).

Where are the best places to eat with the kids? I am tempted by Cafe Mickey in the village, is this the best place for character interaction?

Café Mickey is nice, but sometimes a bit too crowded and chaotic for dinner. Maybe lunch is a better idea. you could also go to Inventions (buffet at Disenyland Hotel), a bit more upscale and quiter.

Will I be able to get a birthday cake for my wife, as it's her birthday on our arrival day?

Yes. Did you book with Disney? If you call them they should be able to arrange it for you. You can have one at every table service restaurant.

Whats the pool like at the lodge, and what are it's opening hours?

I like their pool a lot. Think its open from 7AM-10PM but not sure.

great choice of hotel - the bar is fabulous :D what a lovely holiday that sounds like - I really really enjoyed reading your Florida trippie, it sounded out of this world and was incredibly touching - it makes me want to blow my life savings and have a luxury holiday there too!!

Unfortunately not :sad2: which is a great shame.
