Hi all,

I've been designated chief travel planner for a trip later in the year (October/November). My cousin and her husband have some question regarding deposit, final payment and when they can cancel etc.

When is the deposit due and how much?
When is the final Payment due?
What is the last date you can cancel for a full refund?

We plan on going for 12 nights with 10 full days in the park (when you travel 29 hours to get there you really want to stay a while :-)

We'll probably stay either POP or POR depending on what the cousins budget end up being (Normally we would stay 6 nights at both just for something different or maybe try a deluxe if there is a good deal).

Last year when we went in Nov we ended up getting free dining.... anyone with any thoughts regarding if that will be on again this year?

If not one option might be for one of us to get a AP and then book 2 rooms with the AP discount and grab a Dining Card and get further discounts that way (Not to mention the Disney store discounts :-) What are people thoughts on which would be the best way to go with a 12 night 10 day in park trip?

As always your help is much appreciated :-)

If you book a package (room & tickets) the deposit is $200 and is due within 7 days of booking (otherwise it is just a Hold and they will cancel it is no deposit is placed). The remaining balance is due 45 days prior to arrival. That is also the last day to cancel with a full refund. Once you are within 45 days of arrival on a package there are cancellation fees; the fee is dependent on how close to arrival you are.

If you book a room only the deposit is the equivalent to one nights stay (this is at each resort if you stay at more than one and is also for each room). The balance is due 6 days prior to arrival and that is also the last day to cancel for a full refund.

There is no telling if free dining will be offered for Oct/Nov. Just have to play the waiting game.

Annual Pass room discounts are released fairly close to travel (as in maybe 3 months prior) and is not always available at all resorts - only the ones they need to fill. So it could be at a different value or mod resort other than Pop & POR.
Here's a fab chart from Mousesavers.com of when AP rates (and others) were released.
You may want to book your trip and then change it based upon discounts that come out.

HTH!

Be aware that the Tables In Wonderland card is in generally only usable at table service meals, so if you do a lot of counter service meals it won't be worth as much. However if you are at POP or the All-Stars, it is good at those food courts. It will just take longer to make up the $75 charge for the card itself.

If you are staying at a value and opt for free dining, note that depending on the terms of the promotion you may only get the QSDP. You might be able to upgrade for the difference.

Always evaluate the Free Dining offers against other room discounts, etc. Free Dining requires you to have a package with MYW tickets (not APs, although you can upgrade) and pay the "rack rate" (full price) for the room. I'd consider how you expect to eat, touring plan, etc. for evaluating DDP vs. TIW vs. straight OOP. I did that for our last trip, and realized that the DDP was just too much in comparison for what we'd really eat vs. getting the TIW card.

You CAN book now and change offers later if they made available. You can generally change as many times as you want before the 45 day limit.

You might, if not going with an AP, look into getting the WPF&M Option on your tickets. That will actually allow you days at the water parks and/or Disney Quest.

And is this trip just Disney World. If you will also be going to DisneyLand (in California) on the same trip you might wasnt to look into the Disney Premier Pass, which gives all the benefits of a Premium Annual Pass at both complexes.

Room only does require the one night stay amount but balance is due upon arrival. At least that has always been the case with us. We go often & do alot of room only's.
