Questions on LA & DL

Hi again

I know this should go on the DL board but I wanted a british prospective.

We are booked on a Virgin tour of LA LV GC etc going next Friday, we will be arriving in LA at3.00pm how long before we will be heading out of the airport?

Also we have a standard car from dollar booked, we are thinking of up grading possibly to one with a SAt Nav on it, is this possible and how much extra should it cost for 14 days.

Any one got any must sees or tips bearing in mind we will only have a few days in each place.

Has any one pre booked from home a Grand Canyon helicopter flight we will be staying 2 nights at the canyon but are worried that we might not get a booking if we wait until we arrive.
Will probably have some more questions later on so if anyone has done one of these type of tours your knowledge is appreciated

Hi,
We flew into LAX a couple of years ago and from memory it was about an hour from landing to leaving the airport. Not sure if things are different now with the increased security measures (fingerprints and photos) but it wouldn't surprise me if it takes a little longer. You have to catch a shuttle bus from outside the terminal to the Dollar depot as it is offsite. That was a little bit annoying as we had quite a wait for the bus although that might have just been bad timing.
Next years Virgin Florida brochure lists sat nav from £3 per day bookable in advance with their reservation team although it is not available on grade E cars.
Can't help you much regarding things of Interest in LA as we went straight to Disneyland and stayed onsite. When we went to Vegas we spent a lot of time visiting the hotels on the strip and also did a helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon. Freemont Street is a must see too.
We are going back next month and hope to drive to the Hoover Dam and lake Mead too. From my experience you should be ok booking trips locally as when we were there we could pick our time with no problems.
