hi, my husband and i will be flying with united airlines from belgium to orlando. now i'm not too familiar with the proceedings in american airlines, so i'm hoping you can give me any tips and answer some questions i had:
* We purchased economy plus and choose our seats in the plane. Has anyone ever experienced their same sets having been sold another time (as i read happened with southwest, here on these boards) ?
* Do we need to reconfirm our flight 24h prior to check in ?
* Do you know if you're entitled to as many beverages as you want in the plane (it's long haul), as long as it's non-alcoholic, for free ? or do you only get drinks with the meal and otherwise you need to purchase them ?
* What's the food like in United Airlines ?
* Are the seats in economy plus reasonably comfy ? they have extra legroom (35 inch i think), does this make a large difference ?

Any additional tips you have for me ?
thanks so much

Whenever I've flown United in the past, as long as you reserved your seats and they show up on your confirmation as assigned, those should be the seats you get. Just make sure they are confirmed.

I do not think there is a separate confirmation, but you do need to check-in to get your boarding passes. At that time, make sure your seat assignments are still the same. If not, contact customer service and find out what happened.

Non-alcoholic drinks are complimentary. They get offered during meals and usually once or twice more during the flight. I've never gone back to the flight attendants and asked for more drinks when they were preparing to serve them, so I don't know how that would work.

* What's the food like in United Airlines ?
It's airplane food - not much worse, not much better. I eat it because that's what is being offered, not because it's good. If you have any specific needs (like allergic to something) be sure to let the airline know.

We flew economy plus to London from SF once and it did seem to make a difference. On the long flights the little bit extra room really does help. I would do it again. For shorter flights, I'm not quite sure it is worth the cost.

thanks
