I want to get my sister and her new husband some nice meals while at Disney.

Which character breakfast buffet do you recommend? Why?

Also, does the restaurant in Japan have a hibachi grill? What do you think of the food?

Any other restaurants in EPCOT? We are considering Mexico and China as well (think entertainment as well as food)

Thanks!

Your options for a character buffet in Epcot are Akershus in Norway or Garden Grille. I've eaten at the Garden Grille before and personally thought the food was fine, but nothing to write home about. The character interaction, however, with Chip & Dale, Mickey, and Pluto was INCREDIBLE. If you read the recent reviews on this restraunt, however, it seems that a LOT of people were really unhappy with their food. It is served family style also, so it's not technically a "buffet".

Akershus I've never been to but am thinking about trying it for lunch next trip. At this place you meet the princesses (and they are available for breakfast as well). It is, however, Norwegian food, and if you're not an adventurous eater you probably won't be a fan. I've looked at their menus and breakfast is the most "American" of all the offerings, with lunch seeming more authentic Norwegian and dinner seeming even more authentic. They have a cold bar with various salads and what not, and then you pick a hot entree that they serve to you. The reviews on this place are pretty mixed, but I want to give it a shot.

Teppan Edo is a "dinner and a show" type place, similar to Bennihana.

Based on all the reviews I've read on here, I would NOT recommend Mexico if you're used to authentic Mexican food. It's pretty much agreed all across the board that this place is gross. Nine Dragons has more mixed reviews but I've read a lot of negatives. I recommend looking at the menus for all the places in Epcot and deciding based on the sorts of tastes you like.

The OP is looking for a breakfast character buffet, not necessarily in Epcot if I read that correctly, but Garden Grill does not serve breakfast, only dinner.

There are a lot of breakfast character buffets at Disney, it would help to know if you have a preference for type of atmosphere or certain characters.

I like San Angel fine and do not think it is gross. According to most of the reviews I see (I don't really choose restaurants based on others' reviews though) the problem with San Angel is that it's TOO authentically Mexican whereas most Americans are used to Tex-Mex style food. Of course it's not excellent either. (The margaritas are outstanding though)

with Cape May, Tusker House, Ohana or Crystal Palace for breakfast. That night seem like a lot choices but I agree with the idea of narrowing by characters and also by location. CP is in MK and has Pooh characters. Ohana has Lilo and Stich as well as Mickey and Pluto. Cape May is at the Beach Club and has traditional Disney characters. It's convenient to Epcot but the international entrance is on the opposite side of the park from Future World which is open in the morning. (Works great for a late breakfast and touring World Showcase.) Tusker House has traditional characters and is hosted by Donald. It's in Animal Kingdom.

We do the Akerhaus character breakfast every time we are in WDW. Our kids love the interaction with all the princesses. The food here is serve family style as well....scrambled egg, bacon, sausage - that is unless the have recently changed.

Other then Epcot Ohana's at the Poly was a nice breakfast and DHS offers some as well that weren't bad.
