We are going to Disneyland for the first time since I was in high school, and we are really excited. We will be there July 7-16, staying at Park Vue Inn.

We are planning four days at Disney, a day at the beach, maybe Universal, and probably two days for shopping. My dd(16) wants to go shopping down Rodeo Dr so bad! I guess we'll just go "looking", because I don't think we can afford to buy anything!! hehe

We weren't really planning to rent a car, unless we had to.

Which nice beach is closest to this area, and can we catch a bus to Universal?

Thanks for any suggestions!!!!

Greyline offers tour buses to Universal and Huntington Beach is probably the closest. You will find members that know the transit system very well but I personally would not want to take the time to use that system, but that is just me. Best of luck,

Jack

On Universals website they do sell park tickets that include round trip bus transportation from Disneyland area hotels. Cost is $94 for adults, $84 for kids.

It maybe cheaper to rent a car for the day depending on party size. There are a few car rental agencies close to Disneyland and they often have shuttle service to/from your hotel. Some area hotels have their own rental agents onsite.

I would suggest renting a car...we got ours on priceline for 225 for 11 days....at 15 dollars a day. You will spend more on transfers.

I agree that I would rent a car but only for the days you need it. So maybe go to Disneyland for 2 days, rent a car for 2 days, then back to disneyland for 2 days. You will not need a car for your disney days.

I second renting a car through Priceline! Usually around $17-20 per day! Check out www.betterbidding.com for recent comparisons. It is worth it to me just to drive it to Disneyland from the airport and then to the store a few times. I hate taking the shuttle!

Of course we always end up driving a lot more... the Block at Orange, the Ontario Mills outlet mall, The Grove, Medieval Times, a Dodgers Game, Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hollywood, Target or Food 4 Less for snacks and drinks (especially drinks LOL!), Whole Foods, Disney Character Warehouse etc. As you can see I am not afraid of driving in LA. We always bring our friendly GPS Martha! Never had a problem! We have driven to San Diego also! One year we had the city pass and were determined to do it all LOL!

Rent a car, LA is too spread out with too much to see to take the bus!:thumbsup2
