Happy New Year Everyone!

My scenerio is this....2 Grandparents (65 (mom) & 75 (dad) & my family which consists of me, DH, DS(11) & DS(5)

1- What is there for seniors to do (I know Bingo is the obvious answer) Are there adult areas? My Dad uses a cane & will probably need a wheelchair for this trip but he isn't totally disabled.

2-Anyone ever use smartcruiser.com....best quote I got so far

3- Airfare or no airfare....will I be better doing this myself.

Thanks for all replies...always appreciated:wave2:

In our case, we saved $100 each by doing it ourselves for airfare.

Investigate first, book second.

1) There are many adult only areas, 1 entire pool is adults only. So is Common Grounds, a lounge/coffebar. All areas of the ship are reasonably accessible by wheelchair. One thing is the ship is not is swarming with kids. Yes there are some, but they have their own areas of the ship to keep them occupied, it is rare to see them in numbers like you do in the theme parks.

2) Nope, sorry we use Dreams Unlimited and have been very satisfied with their service.

3) You are much better doing airfare yourself; more than likely package airfare will not be as flexible with flight times and stopovers. Also last minute unnotified flight changes are not unheard of. The only advantage to having Disney do your flight is they will hold the ship if your flight is running a little late.

There are alot of adult activities that I'm sure seniors would enjoy.

The spa has alot, I know my mom loves to get just regular manicures. They might enjoy the massages, the Rainforest (from what I understand this is an extremely relaxing sauna-like treatment).

I bet they will love the shows and other entertainment. There are 70's shows, lots of different styles of music to enjoy.

If they like wine, the wine tasting seminar. Is this only on the 7-night???

All kinds of movies to see. I know my mom generally never gets out to do this at home.

Relaxing at the adult pool, hot tubs and beach at Castaway.

I wasn't sure which cruise you were doing. If you look up the navigators (daily schedules) You can find recent activities that might appeal to them.

The navigators can be found at www.castawayclub.com

have fun!

You will be better doing the air yourself. Also, for a group of 6, it will be cheaper to get a private limo service than to use DCL transfers (the break even point on that is 3 adults). You might want to consider flying in on the evening before and spending the night at an airport hotel. You can get a 3* room thru Priceline for about $30 per night which includes a free shuttle to and from the airport (if needed) and in some cases includes breakfast. You have the peace of mind that you are in Orlando in time for the cruise.

There are plenty of adult areas and activities on the ship.
