I need some info/ advice on Fort wilderness.
Right now we are holding a cabin for Sept 25th 7 nights, with dining and 7 day passes.
We have 3 kids ages 2,4 and 7 and although we will be spending alot of time in the parks, I want to explore the campground as well. Any suggestions on a loop request?
We will be going to all 4 parks but maybe MK the most, I know about the boat, but seems like you have to bus to get to the boat from cabin? Are there any tricks to getting to parks faster as far as the transportation goes?

I dont think its in our budget to rent a golf cart every day, can you rent them daily when you get there ? Or does it have to be reserved?
Also thinking about Hoop de doo? Is it worth it?

Thanks in advance ;)

There is an internal bus that runs thru the cabin loops that will take you to the Settlement where you can take the boat to the MK. There is also an outpost bus that will take you to the front of the campground where you can catch a bus to the other parks. Golf carts can be rented on a daily basis. Depending what time of year you're going I'd consider calling the cart barn and reserving one just in case.

I know how you can save enough to pay for a cart and then some, $68 a day! Instead of a cabin, look into renting from CampattheFort.com. They deliver their spacious, deluxe 5th wheel trailer to your campsite and set everything up for you. They provide your linens and towels. You have the benefits of choosing what level of campsite you want, which means choosing what part of the campground to a certain extent. The savings I quoted above are for a Preferred campsite during your travel dates, and preferred means you would be right next to the marina... as opposed to the far end of the campground in the cabins! You could save even more going with a Full hookup, which would be sites in a quiet and secluded corner of Fort Wilderness... and still closer to the action than the cabin loops! And, if you've ever thought that you might some day like to own your own RV this is a great way to get a feel for the lifestyle, without the introductory headaches of learning how to back into a campsite and dealing with sewer connections and dumping operations! Just something to consider.

Oh, just so you can check my math :teacher: : cabins in value season are $265, Tina's trailer is $135, a preferred site in value season is $62 for a total $197 for a savings $68. More that the daily cart rental at the Fort! Note that these prices are before tax. And I just looked for you, your travel dates are still available to book on her website.
:santa:

DISCLAIMER: I have no business involvement with www.campatthefort.com and they neither encouraged nor approved this endorsement. I am simply a fan of the service and am excited about the value they offer. I evangelize them because I want to see them, and their business model, flourish!

:thumbsup2

FYI Shan, I kept trying to get my dad to understand what I was talking about-I showed him your post and BAM! He got it and is going to contact Tina about a reservation!

Thanks, I owe you a piece of my sanity ;)

We r staying the same week as your family. We have two sons 5 & 7. We have our our travel trailer and request a preferred site in loop 300. Hopefully that is what we will get. It is close to marina and all other activities. Just request it with your reservation. Good luck if you rent the camper.:)

As long as you are handing out sanity, can I have some ?
I could use a refill.

I just wanted to say have a great time, have fun and enjoy in your upcoming trip. Looking forward in hearing more from you after you came back.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

We stayed in a cabin in loop 2100 last April & really enjoyed it. The loops nearer the Outpost, 2600, 2800, etc. can be a bit wetter depending on the season. In terms of getting around you simply walk from your cabin to the bus stop which is 'generally' located near the front entrance to any loop. The parks internal bus service works quite well and rarely is the wait longer than 15 minutes. If you have kids 6 & up you don't need a golf cart to enjoy the Fort. That being said however I always rent a cart. I'm a bit of a control freak (I don't like waiting at a bus stop more than 2.84 minutes) & if I have to walk more than 50 feet I swear someone has tricked me into exercising.

For your situation (3 kids with two under 6) I’d strongly encourage you to rent golf cart. I believe your week at the Fort would be much more enjoyable with your own transportation. A cart through Tee Time is $225/week. Trust me it will be the best $225 you spend. Hoop-De-Doo is a very good time; very expensive but a very good time. It is always one of our family’s most memorable activities. However, again for your situation (3 kids with two under 6) I would pass on it until the kids are older. It’s a long, (from a two year old perspective that is) high-energy show that’s apt to be too much for young ones (and then their parents!) Yes to golf cart – wait on Hoop-De-Doo;)

You may want to consider an outside golf cart rental company..there are a couple that people here on the board have used. I know it's a significant discount over what FW charges.
Otherwise, you can rent from FW for a day or so..planning some Fort activities for those days.
