Would like some info from those who have already stayed at Bahama Bay resort.
Which supermarkets are nearby?
Any recommendations on restaurants in that area? How is the onsite restaurant Tradewinds?
Since we won't be doing any Disney parks(kids are burnt out from going about 9 years in a row) we plan to spend quite a bit of time at the resort. Any other things to do nearby? My boys ages are almost 16 and 14 1/2
We might possibly hit Universal if we get bored. We definitely will hit Typhoon Lagoon one day since we have water park days left on our passes.
Really just looking to get away from this crazy winter we are having. Just booked a week ago. We are going Feb 20-28.

Thanks!!

The nearest one is Publix at Berry Town Centre at Sand Mine Road approx 1/2 mile south on 27.
North on 27 there is a Walmart at Cagan Crossings and a little further up there is a Sweetbay.
Tradewinds has been taken over recently so I cannot comment on it now. Restaurants nearby include Applebees at Berry Town Centre ,Cracker Barrel ,Bob Evans ,Perkins plus the usual fast food places all of which are south towards I4 .North on 27 there is Chillis, Santa Fe plus Lomng John Silvers and KFC.
If you ead back east on 192 until you reach Rollinig Oaks by the 429 flyover then there is a Millers Ale House,Olive Garden,Longhorn .
If you enjoy nature then head north on 27 to Lake Louisa State Park or visit Citrus Tower at Clermont .

I haven't stayed at Bahama Bay Resort, but I do know the area a little bit. If you are relaxing and not doing the parks every day, consider going to Manny's Chop House in Haines City. The address is:

Haines City
35496 Hwy. 27 .N
Haines City. Fl 33844

It is probably a 10-15 minute - (maybe less) drive from where you are staying.

Here's the website:

Definitely call ahead. We didn't call ahead and waited two hours even though we got there when they opened. We had a party of ten so I thought that may have been why we waited so long, but it was worth it. My in-laws just went last week and they only had a party of 4 and waited 1.5 hours. I asked if they did the call ahead seating and they said they didn't think they would need to. We will do the call ahead seating when we go in a few weeks. The food was great, the atmosphere is fun and our server was one of the best I have ever had. On the night we went, kids ate for free. It was great.

Thanks Dougsmom for the Manny's suggestion. I checked out the menu and it looks like a place my teenage boys would love. We'll be there in a few weeks too! I will definitely call ahead!!:)
