Do you make the note on your dining reservations that you are in need of a special or food allergies or do you tell them when you are at the restaurant?

I just found out I am lactose intolerant and I try not to use the Lactaid pills as much so I just stay away from lactose if possible. I already have all my dining reservations...do I need to call or go online to add this info or do I wait until I am there?

I'm allergic to shellfish. I usually note it on my reservations when I make them, then I usually mention it again at the restaurant if the wait staff doesn't mention it first (which they usually do.) If you're really concerned about it, I'd call the dine line and let them add it to you're reservations, but I find most restaurants at Disney can accomodate on short notice.

I don't note DH's fish allergy in advance and usually he doesn't mention it at the restaurant either unless he has a question about a particular dish that might contain fish or use a fish stock base, but fish is easy to avoid and not often "hidden" the way dairy can be. For a dairy issue I would want to note it in advance because there are substitutions the chef might be able to make upon request rather than simply trying to steer clear of anything made with dairy products.

And to expand on my comment on special diets. They can provide you with a listing of foods in the parks that are safe to eat. TS isn't a problem as the chef will normally come out to discuss options with your party when they are notified of an allergy. But special diets will tell you what items are safe to eat at CS and even most of the snack carts.

My friend's mother and father are taking my uncle and myself out to dinner the night we arrive at Disneyworld on the 14th..... She made the reservations for Victoria and Albert's seeing as that is where we are staying....

The problem is I can't really eat alot of food without getting sick and my uncle has a rare spice allergy and I am not sure that there is anything on the menu that he would be able to eat..... Should I let my friend's mother know and maybe she could change the reservation to somewhere we would all be comfortable eating.... Any help suggestions would be appreciated.... :grouphug:

DS is allergic to many things. It's actually easier for me to list what he CAN eat than what he can't.
We always let Disney Dine know well in advance that we are coming and make sure that it is noted in all or ADRs. We make sure to speak to the chef at every TS too and they are great about getting him a plain baked potatoe, some veggies or rice to go with the protein that we bring with us.
