Questions for Sarasota?

I had posted about Sarasota before but search has been disabled so I can't look up my original post.

I have been begging my DH to move to Florida for years and his brother and sister-in-law live in Sarasota. Well, HE FINALLY is going to go "investigate" hopefully next month. So I have a couple of questions.

1. What do you like about living in Sarasota?

2. What do you not like about living in Sarasota?

3. Are there any non-stop flights from the Sarasota airport to Orlando, even commuter, because I could not find any. I am guessing most of you drive up but I don't drive so its not an option for me.

4. If we did move to Sarasota, are there certain neighborhoods we should avoid? Or neighborhoods that are nicer we might look into?

Thanks for any help. I can't believe I have gotten him to investigating FINALLY.

I grew up in Sarasota. (I think I replied to your original post). I lived there until about 5 yrs ago, now I live on FL's east coast. I still like Sarasota better - it is a great place to live!! The beaches are very nice over there. I love St. Armand's circle. I love that the city is rich in cultural arts! Property is more expensive there than it is on the east coast, and you do notice it feeling a bit crowded during snowbird season. There are plenty of great areas anywhere you choose - pm me if you want to ask about the places you are want to look into. Good luck - hopefully someday I can convince DH to move there
