How do they work the dinner rotations? Do you keep going through the same three restaurants? Do they have the same menu each time? I think I've read that there are alternative buffet type dinners at topsiders, are those good?

Also, are there alternative night shows, or do they just rotate Dreams, Hercules and Golden Mickeys?

I'm just trying to anticipate the 14 day cruise- only 11 months to plan!:bounce:

yes, you do "rotate" the same place, So in an APL you would do
each restaurant twice, and animators three times.

They have a differnt menu every nite.

Didn't eat dinner at the other places, so can't comment

Hope it helps

DCL's has not yet done a cruise longer than 7 days, so we can't be sure what they might do for the 10-day Christmas cruise or the 14-day canal transit cruises. But, on the 7-day cruises, they do vary things a bit at both the restaurants and the theater. In addition to the regular restaurant menus, they have two formal nights, a tropical (eastern) or Mexican (western) Theme night, and another theme night, sometimes called "Small World" or something to that effect. On the theme nights, all three restaurants have the same menu, but you never have a repeat menu on any night during the cruise.

The alternative dining at Topsider's is a nice option, if you don't make it (or don't want to make it) to your assigned dinner. There is sit-down table service, and a dessert buffet. The menu usually includes some of the choices from the dining rooms on that night.

For the shows, in addition to Hercules, Golden Mickeys, and Dreams, they have "Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer?", a welcome aboard variety show, and usually a first-run movie, called a "PremEar at Sea."

I would imagine that they would add to this for their upcoming longer cruises, rather than just recycle the menus and entertainment.

There has not been anything longer than a 7 day yet on DCL so no one really knows how the 10 and 14 day cruises will be handled as far as shows and dining. The first 10 day DCL cruise will happen over the Christmas holidays this year.

we should have info for the 14 day cruises by next spring ... some of it though will be "surprises" so we won't know much until the May repo cruise (those of us doing the Aug repo cruise will have the advantage of learning from the May cruisers).

Here is my theory:

I think that DCL will plan some special themes and shows for the West Coast cruises. For the 14 day cruise, we will probably get all of the regular themes and shows from the current 7 day cruises, plus all of the "special" themes and shows for the West coast cruises, plus a few extra surprises to make up for the overlap between the East and West coast cruises.

For those of us on the May cruise, it will be a day-by-day surprise. For those of you on the August cruise, you should have navigators & menus from the May cruise by May 29, 2005.

what??? the May cruisers won't have everything posted day by day from May 14th to May 28th??? What's up with that??? :rotfl:

If there was a good way to upload things from my laptop while on the ship, I could do that. :)

You'll just have to settle for a day-by-day summary with the full info as soon as the cruise is over. :p

We did a back to back last year on the Magic, so had 14 days of great meals! We had no problems in finding different things to try, although the menus were repeated on the second week of course. Pretty sure they will have different arrangements for the repo cruises. Nat:Pinkbounc
