Questions for early Alaskan cruisers!

I did enter my flight times in their on-line check in. So based on that, they will know that I need to get my tail off that ship first thing, correct? I already figured breakfast at BBB but just wasn't sure if it would be necessary for me to keep my luggage and carry it off myself. I originally figured on a cab as I wasn't sure if DCL transfers would get us over in time but with seven people to coordinate (of which some panic easily), it looks like DCL transfers might be easy enough!

Sorry to keep bothering you, do I need to request DCL transfers before or can I still arrange that once on the ship (leaving from Florida we usually rent a car for the day so I don't use DCL).

You are not bothering me at all! I'm happy to help. I would suggest booking prior to arriving on the ship because there is a code on your Key to the World Card that indicates you've purchased transfers. We had to show our kttwc prior to getting in line to get on the bus. I'm sure if purchased on board you'd get a new card. There were plenty of very comfortable buses available. Our drive time from port to airport was 30 minutes.

Saw this posted on another thread and thought I would share it here...

Since it was the first time the Wonder was going to Alaska, there is a law that required us to go outside of Vancouver Island on the way up... we had some rough seas that day... but sailed the "inside" the whole way back. All future cruises will go northbound and southbound on the east side of the island and sail the entire route on the "inside."

My family is driving to Vancouver together, but my daughter and I will fly back at 11:59 a.m. the day the cruise disembarks. My plan was to leave all the luggage with my husband so we can avoid that hassle and hightail it to the airport, but my worry is that I'll be leaving him with an even bigger hassle. We've got reservations to park at CanadaPlace; are there luggage carts to assist with getting all the luggage from the ship to the car?

I've seen people asking about lobster, but _I_ want to know if Alaskan King Crab will be available. I've been dreaming of it!:cheer2:

Book a PALO brunch during one of the Sea Days. Lots of King Crab, all cracked and ready to eat. :cheer2:.

I've had my TA and three different DCL people stress to me that flights have to be after 1:00pm local time departing Vancouver for any chance of making them. DCL pointed the finger at the fact we have to pass through customs to get out.

Disney's time suggestions have always been a moving target.

That seems true for us -- DCL has us on a noon flight out of Vancouver. I hope we make it!

I have to "fix" my brunch reservations. (We have 3 cabins in our party of 5 adults - I have 10:30 res, my parents have 11:00 and our friend has none.) However, once I get us combined, I'll be chowing on my crab! Yippee!:thumbsup2

I had a 10:25 flight out of Vancouver yesterday...made it with plenty of time to spare. I did take a cab from the port though...not sure of your transportation....

Thank you! That's good to know. We have DCL transfers, so I hope we'll be in one of the first groups off of the ship.

Great to know! I hope you had a great cruise! :goodvibes

Did you keep your luggage with you to get off the ship earlier, or go through the DCL luggage process? Was there a crowd trying to get off early? (asking since I'm worried about catching our flight).

They're going to hold the bus until it's full. So if you're in a time crunch, I'd suggest a taxi. You may be OK if tons of people are trying to get to the airport early, but I'm not sure I'd risk it. We sat for close to half an hour after the Med cruise.

Sayhello

We had a noon flight out yesterday booked by DCL and got through all the security customs and everything in pleanty of time. Was even able to pick up a sandwich to take on the flight home. AWESOME TRIP!

You will be just fine with your 11:30am flight. My flight was noon and I had ample time. If you did the on line check in and noted your flight times, DCL will send to your stateroom the day before you debark an information sheet along with special luggage tags. We had to meet on the morning of debarkation in the Walt Theater at 7:30am. Your only choice for breakfast is Beach Blanket. Once off the ship, we went thought Canadian Customs and right after that our luggage with the special tags was right there waiting for us. We grabbed our luggage and a FREE luggage cart (it's knid of a long walk) and proceeded to the line to board the DCL buses. There are plenty of DCL reps. in the terminal who will guide you along. I think the DCL cost of the bus was $25 per person.

catislander - I quoted an earlier post with your answer about luggage carts.

NAVIGATORS LADIES - NAVIGATORS!!!!! LOL

It's soooo interesting to me how people are different. I have absolutely no desire to see the Navigators and probably will not look at them if/when they are posted. Why?

For DH & I, getting the Navigator the night before became part of our cruise experience. We would curl up together and look at the activities offered and plan our next exciting day. It was a great moment each night that we shared.

It was also fun seeing, "What's next" and gave us something to discover each evening. Plus, what if there's something we are super excited about on the Navigator someone posts and that activity is changed on our sailing? Oh, the disappointment. I don't want that.

I think seeing the Navigators ahead of time would be sort of like unwrapping our birthday presents early.

Just an interesting observation.

May you get your wish and see some navigators soon... but I won't be peeking.

I like to see teh Navigators as it helps me plan around activities I don't want to miss. For example, I would hate to book Palo while a one time only event was happening on board. A little pre-planning goes a long way for my family.
