Questions Disney$, Gift Certs and Rewards Cards

Hi Everyone,

Can I use my Disney Gift Certificates to buy Disney Dollars at a
Disney Store or can I use the Gift Certs at WDW??

Also, I signed up for my Disney Chase card. I have used the
card but did not see any of the points- I read the aggreement
and it said something about not rewarding them until after the
billing cycle- and not accruing them until after the "first" billing
cycle- I was told my billing cycle was the 10th- so I am assuming
that since the 10th of July just passed that this is the beginning
of my first billing cycle- so now I will start accruing points- or do
I actually have had to make a payment- which I am assuming will
be due in Aug and it will not be until then that I can accrue??

One last question- the points are all awarded at one time of the
month or do they reward them throughout the month as purchases
are made??

I can't answer all of your questions, but I know that you can't use Disney Store gift cards to buy Disney Dollars (that's what the CM told me, anyway)

rflorek...I was able to use some giftcards to buy Disney Dollars at a Disney Store. I was buying other items also, maybe that's why I was allowed.

zachchan...I'd say, go ahead and try to buy them, the worse they can say is no...I do know that the Disney Store Gift Certs/Cards canNOT be used at the resort/parks.

As to the reward dollars...not sure since it's your first cycle how it's handled but generally I get my rewards posted when my statement closes. In other words, if I charge $1000 6/1-7/1 then on my statement closing 7/2, I'll see 10 reward dollars. The payment itself does not affect the reward dollars (although there is probably some clause saying if your account is delinquent you don't earn rewards or something).

I misunderstood the Billing Cycle date info....

Another question...

Chase sent me another card yesterday- it says it is rechargeable- I don't have it front
of me to know if it says "gift" card or "Rewards" card on it- I am wondering if this
is the "Rewards" card?? It is red- and I don't remember there being a expiration date on there- doesn't the Rewards card have an expiration date??

Some Disney Stores will let you use gift cards to buy DIsney Dollars, others will not. It might be a difference in the various state laws concerning cashing in gift cards.

Disney Store gift cards are not valid at Disney parks and resorts, or at the World of Disney store in NYC.

Disney recently announced that they are coming out with a rechargable Food and Merchandise card for WDW, but details are scarce. About the only thing the press releas said was thet it will have only a $5 minimum to get one and it can be recharged with $5 up to $1,500. There was no mention of where you could get one, when they will become available, how they can be recharged, etc. But keep your eyes open, when more details become available I'm sure they will be posted here instantly!

What you may have received is a new Disney Visa card. Since BankOne was taken over by Chase, Chase been been sending out replacement cards with the Chase logo on them. The default card design (I think there are like 5 different designs) is the red pixie dust card. If I remember correctly, my rewards cards is purplish? with a Fantasia Mickey on it.

zachchan...I just want to confirm...you were asking about the use of Gift Certs/Cards to purchase Disney Dollars right? Not the Disney VISA Reward $ (Reward $ CAN be used at both Disney Store and parks/resort to buy Disney $).

I have the Chase Credit Card- it is the generic one- red with Mickey
ears and Pixie Dust- How do I get the "fancy" ones??

They also sent me a Gift Card for the Disney Store- This is the
Rechargable card I was asking about...

I will now take my "new" Gift card and "old" Gifts Certs and try to
buy some Disney Dollars to use at WDW...

Disney Store Gift certs- but thanks for the info on the Rewards cards-
that is good to know...

Food and Merch card- I hadn't heard about that- I will be looking for
more info on that when it comes out!!

Looks like they only credit the Rewards dollars once a month- is there
a minimum they will credit (I am assuming $1) or do you have to have at least
$10 or some other amount?

One last question (for this message!)- Does anyone remember when
they got their Chase/Bank one Credit Card if there was a period
when they first started using their cards that their purchases did
NOT count towards the Rewards Dollars? We are holding off on getting
some stuff because we want to make sure we get the points...

Just adding on to Will's mention of the new gift card for food and merchandise and walt disney world - they should be out Aug. 1st or 2nd. The cms have been trained to use and sell them. They will be available almost everywhere...for instance, I know Columbia Harbour House will sell them.

Hope I can help answer a few of your questions, whereas I just got mine too and had some of the same. You start accruing reward dollars right from the first purchase. They accrue over the month, and at statement time, when they send out your statement you can see what accumulated both online and on your statement. As you accumulate your rewards, once you get $25 you can request them. They put them on a rewards card and send it to you in the mail. After that, as you accumulate at least $10 you can call (or via online) have them transfer them immediately to your card electronically. Hope this helps!

I have the Disney Visa (Day One Member!) I have 90 points which I transfered onto the rewards card. So now I have an extra $90 to spend in DW! It's worth it to have the card if you're going to DW.
