All my kids were big enough to ride all rides and walk around on their own for all or WDW visits, but we'll have our 2 yr old GD on our next trip so some logistical questions come to mind: On which rides/forms of tranportation can you NOT tote a folded stroller, and do you take your own or rent, and why?

Thanks,
Bill From PA

I always took our own lightweight umbrella stroller, for ease of folding, for the basket at the bottom, and so we had one at the resort and Downtown Disney.

You will not be able to take the stroller on the attractions (there's stroller parking at each attraction), and it will have to be folded up for the tram ride into the park, and on the various boats. Many people leave their child in the stoller on the monorail, some fold it up.

I can't think off-hand of any attraction you can take a stoller into, but perhaps someone else can. :)

By the way, Disney with a 2 year old is A Whole New World. ;)

We also took our own stroller--it was a lot more comfortable than the rentals and has a HUGE storage basket underneath. It also had a tray in front for her sippy cup and snacks. After a long day of walking in the parks it was nice not to have to carry a tired toddler from the park to the car. We took our stroller on the monorail-the only time we had to fold it was when we rode up front.

We always bring our light-weight stroller which is very convenient. I would highly recommend a stroller with a canopy. This will not only protect the child from the sun, but also makes it a little cooler.

Good Day from a fellow PA-ian.

We have taken our son since he was 6 months old and we always have taken our own stroller or purchased one at Walmart when we arrived. We usually then pass the stroller along to another family the day we leave. Cost is usually our reason, plus it is more convient to have a stroller to start and end your day - even a 2 yr old can get heavy after a long day at the parks.
You can get a decent folding stroller with a flip-up roof for under $20.

Transportation - all will accept strollers. Bus and the front of the monorail it must be folded up.

Rides - most do not allow strollers, but parking is always close by and convient. The TRAIN at MK does allow the stroller as long as it folds up. A friendly warning strollers are moved frequently by CMs, supposedly for safety and other reasons. I really think they get a good laugh at watching people try to find their stroller.

Any other questions about travelling to WDW with a 2 yr old, we will be happy to answer. So far we have 8 trips with my son in 3 years - he is a Disney nut already.

You can't take a stroller into any of the theaters (indoor like American Adventure, Country Bears or Hall of Presidents, or outdoor like Indiana Jones). You also can't take a stroller into any of the pavilions at Epcot (like the Land, Living Seas, Wonders of Life).

One more thought about the strollers. One morning I had dd3 to myself while dh and ds4 were riding BTMR. I just parked the stroller somewhere in Fantasyland and carried or walked with her from one attraction to the next. It saved alot of time. We were able to get onto 3 or 4 rides fairly quickly without alot of in and out of the stroller.

Stroller is a MUST with a young child. I always bring my "SUV" has my husband calls it. But I like it a lot more than the ones you rent. And I will never buy an umbrella stroller. Not that they're bad I just don't like them. Now renting strollers is okay but they don't have much storage for your stuff and they don't fold back. This is a big must for me. We normally don't go back to our hotel in the middle of the day for naps so it's nice to have somewhere your child can lay down. You never know when they will want to sleep!
As for rides you are not aloud to take strollers on any rides really but they do have stroller parking at every ride. So rides you d have to take your stroller with you because your dropped off at a different place.
MK- you have to take your stroller when riding the train unless your just going all the way around
EPCOT- strollers are not allowed in the LAND, Living Seas,
MGM- backlot tours you have to take your stroller with you but what we do is leave our stroller at the exit of the ride rather than bringing it with us.
My advice is rent or bring your own it really doesn't matter but you will want one. It is a LOT of walking for an adult let alone a 2yo.

Cleo hit the nail on the head_ It is a whole new world witha 2yo.
