Questions and more questions: thinking about Animal Kingdom DVC

I thought through the possibility of purchasing DVC before the new Animal Kingdom Villas. Now, I'm re-thinking. I would love some expert advice. First, what is the current price? Is there a promotion for buying through Disney? If I remeber correctly, 150 points is the minimum to buy through Disney--is this correct? I looked at the point chart, and there are four categories of rooms--I understand Savannah and Concierge (I think, if they mean what it sounds like they mean) but what are the Value and Standard rooms? And I am a little confused about the studio versus one-bedroom. If a studio sleeps four how can a one-bedroom sleep only four as well? I would think that the extra bedroom would add at least one extra double bed?

Thank you to anyone who might be willing to answer any or all of this!

It is 104 with 8 dollars off for AKL and 10 for SSR. They are also offering bonus points for purchases of over 200 pts (I think that is how many.....)

Actually, 160.

Value looks at the parking lots and the standard look at the pool and garden I believe.

And I am a little confused about the studio versus one-bedroom. If a studio sleeps four how can a one-bedroom sleep only four as well? I would think that the extra bedroom would add at least one extra double bed?

Studio has a queen and pull out sofa in the main room, making it four....and a kitchenette. Once bedroom has full kitchen, table for four, washer dryer, pull out sofa, fold out chair and king in the bedroom....so makes it 5. (I believe all of AKL are supposed to have the pull out chair). So one bedroom just has a lot more space, but not much in the sleeping capacity.

Hope that helps...I think I got it all right....but I am sure I will be corrected if I wasn't! :thumbsup2

The value 1-bedrooms sleep 4 and the value 2-bedrooms sleep 8. Otherwise it's 5 and 9 respectively.

A little additional to the above:

1. Value may have parking lot or savanna view. It is "value" because the rooms are smaller than all others -- example value studios are about 315 sq ft whereas all other studios are close to 360; it is a significant and noticeable difference. "Standard" refers to view which can be pool or parking lot. "Savanna" as you suspect is a view but does not include any of the "values" which have a savanna view. Be aware that 80% of all rooms are (and will still be when Kidani is done) savanna view point cost so lower point cost value and standard may ultimately become difficult to get a number of times a year unless you make ressies 11 months out. Values will be only in the Jambo house, Kidani will have no values. The 1BRs at Jambo have one bathroom, at Kidani they will have two.

2. Studios sleep 4 with the queen and pull-out couch. 1BRs have a living room and bedroom. The bedroom has a king. The 1BR sleeps 4 in the value category and 5 in all others. The reason: there is a large chair in the living room of the 1BR that pulls out into a bed, in addition to the pull-out couch for two, but that chair is not in the values because those are too small for it.

3. I never remember exactly what deal is going on but I believe the poster above is correct and those extra points thrown in are developer points that are good for a year and subject to the 7 month window.

Another thing to be aware of is that the concierge rooms do not all have a savannah view. I sent you a PM with more specifics.
