Questions about Whispering Canyon Cafe

Hey, All,

I have a couple questions about Wilderness cafe. We have reservations for a couple weeks and I've never been there.

Does anyone know if you can order from the lunch menu at dinner time (630ish)? I think that some of the people we will be going with would opt for lighter fare.

Also, I would not like to opt for lighter fare. I was thinking about getting a skillet. Can 1 person get a skillet? Its all you care to enjoy, so how do they control it if other people at the table want to try it?

Thanks

I can't answer the lunch question, but your skillet question: Yes, one person can get a skillet, and anyone else seen eating out of your skillet will also be charged for a skillet. No "trying".

You can ask, but I would not count on being able to order from the lunch menu at dinnertime. The lunch ingredients are put away and the kitchen and kitchen staff are set up for dinner preparation. Perhaps those who would prefer to eat lighter could order an appetizer, share an entree (except for the skillet) or order from the kids' menu.

One person can order the skillet, but if others partake of it they will also be charged.

We actually heard a nearby table arguing with a waitress on our visit to WCC about being charged for a skillet when one member of their party ordered the skillet and another tried a few bites, so I think that's something that really does happen (though I'm sure it's a YMMV thing).

Yes, it does and it should. There's no way I would be planning or hoping to sneak some bites by unnoticed. (Not that the OP suggested that. Just adding my additional $.02)

Oh, I agree! I was just a bit surprised to hear an argument about what the diners were alleging was "like 2 bites of chicken!" , as I'd never seen/heard anyone call out the issue like that in our AYCTA dining experiences before, and thought it might be an urban legend. ;)

in our experience we were told that if anyone at the table atff to Skillet it either A) could not be refilled or B) if it was refilled everyone who ate off it would be charged. the waitress explained this when my husband and I ordered the skillet and our children had kids meals. She did say that the kids could eat the salad and the bread though.

Do they play Games and other fun stuff at dinner like they do at breakfast and lunch?

I have to say, I think we're going to cancel our reservation. The menu really is a little rough for dinner. There are only a few entrees, and nothing light. My wife would prefer a salad or a light sandwich, but thats not on the menu. She'd be good with a burger, if push comes to shove. Its a little odd how limited some/most disney menus are.
