Hi everyone,

We are getting ready to book our flights to MCO and am looking for your experiences in booking with WestJet.

Is there a way to use the voucher and your West Jet dollars online?

When do you access your complimentary seat selection from the MC benefits?

When we do online check-in do we enter our bags and it just doesn't charge us?

Thanks so much :)

Brandy

Hi Brandy,

The following is based on what I've "read" and NOT actual experience as I've yet to book flights using my voucher AND West Jet dollars:

No for when done "online": No ... I do not "think" you can book flights "online" using "both" your companion voucher AND West Jet dollars.

Yes when done through a "West Jet Agent": HOWEVER if you want to use "both" of these items THEN you must call West Jet and speak to a West Jet Agent. The Agent can help you book your flights using "both" your companion voucher AND West Jet dollars. The agent can also take down the West Jet Cardholder's West Jet number and link it to the cardholder's travelling companions flights so that the cardholder AND cardholder's travelling companions will get their 1st free checked bag. I "think" all flights (cardholder + cardholder's travelling companions) must be booked "at the same time" in order to create the "link" for the 1st free checked bag.

Reminder: I believe the "companion voucher" and "free 1st bag" will apply for West Jet operated flights only. As for the West Jet dollars, you will need to confirm whether or not these dollars can be used for non-West Jet operated flights (in case you are using West Jet dollars only AND do not care about the "companion voucher" or "free 1st bag").

I hope I gave you correct info above ... again ... it's only based on what I've read. Perhaps someone with actual experience can correct any errors in my explanation. Good luck! :-)

No, you can't book online if you're using the voucher. And if you are booking more than 2 flights it has to be done in 2 separate transactions. The agent will link the reservations so that the "free 1st bag" benefit applies to both bookings. And yes when you do on-line check in you enter your bags and it doesn't charge you.
I have never received complimentary seat selection so unless this has changed since February I think you might have been misinformed.

You are right! Thanks everyone - will do it the old fashioned way and get on the phone with a West Jet agent. :)

I just did this on the weekend --- booking using the companion voucher and westjet dollars (you do definitely have to speak to an agent.) We are a party of 3 (2 adults and one child under 12). Myself and my son on one reservation and my DH on a separate reservation. They did link them up and mentioned that they coded it so that all 3 passengers will have the 1 free bag.

We were given free seat selection (but it had to be row 19 or back -- anything in the front of the cabin you'd have to pay for) for the whole party because one of the party was under 12. The agent mentioned that you would normally have to request it at the time of booking (they don't make the offer but apparently will offer to those that ask.)
