Questions about walking to parks from hotel

Never been to Universal Studios before. We'll be staying at Four Points Sheraton Studio City. Via google maps it looks walkable to the front gates of both parks.

1.) Anyone know how long it takes to walk from that hotel?
2.) Where exactly are the entrances to each park? We're going to spend one day in each, not bounce between them, so I don't want to walk all the way to, say, the front gate of US and have someone say - "Oh, you want the IoA gate? One mile that-a-way."

When you walk through Citywalk (the central hub) you go right to go to Universal Studios and left to go to Islands of Adventure. Head toward the big globe to get to Universal and the big tower to get to IOA.

Not sure about how long it takes to get from Four Points Sheraton.

ah, OK, you go to both via Citywalk. That's what I was hoping for, thanks. My guess it's at least a 20 minute walk from the Sheraton? Just a guess.

I checked on the location of your hotel with mapquest and I think it might be a longer walk than you are anticipating.
We stayed at the Doubletree Universal which is right at the entrance to Universal and it was a 20 minute walk. Your hotel looks a lot further away than that.
I saw on the hotel's website that they quote the distance as 1 mile, but I wonder if that is "as the crow flies." As far as I can tell there is only one entrance to Universal-Citywalk and its on the north side of the entire resort area. Your hotel looks like its on the south side, so you may have to walk all the way around the resort, enter on the north side, then head back south into Citywalk.
I tried to get directions/mileage from mapquest, but it wasn't cooperating today. You might try the transportation board (even though it's mostly Disney fans over there), I've gotten lots of advice from Orlando locals on directions/distances on that board.
Hope this helps.

I just looked up your hotel on google maps and to be honest, its going to be a bit of a walk, doable, but more than 20 minutes. I live within Universal proximity and know those roads like the back of my hand.

I could type up a detailed description of the best way to walk to the parks if you want to send me a message, I'll help you out the best I can. From your hotel you would make a right down International Drive (called I-drive by locals here) to the first traffic intersection. You then follow Universal Blvd. But PLEASE be careful if you walk to Universal. Just past that intersection on Universal Blvd are a few on/off ramps to the biggest highway in Orlando and you have to basically cross them on sidewalks to get to Universal.

Please feel free to contact me for more help if you need it.

well crud - not the replies, just our hotel distance. Looks like we'll have to find another way over there. I like being active (but on vacation, not that active.) Hotel has a shuttle, however, I don't think their hours match the maximum park fun we're seeking.

Thanks very much for the info.

get a cab. we stayed at Hyatt Place and walked the first day, they said it was 15 mins, yeah 15 mins. to the enterance and another 10 to IOA. the nextday got a cab for 4 dollars plus tip. well worth it.

The walk from this particular hotel is described as a bit too much at mousesavers.com, due to distance and the busy street crossings. I agree with the taxicab plan, if the hotel's shuttle schedule is inconvenient.
