A few of my friends and myself are going to be staying at POFQ in August for the weekend. For most of us, it's out very 1st time staying onsite. We aren't going to any parks, just relaxing. We have a few ressies for breakfast and dinner but other than EAT.. is it "OK' to visit other resorts to see what they have to offer (excluding the pools  )

I mean, I know you can go to the Contemporary to eat and such. Are they ok with letting you walk around?

What else can we do besides DTD?

Sure, you can dine, walk around, purchase items in the store, rent the recreational watercraft, try out the arcade.

Absolutely. It's a fun thing to do and who knows, you may fall in love with a hotel and stay there in the future.

You are of course welcome to tour the resorts!

Make sure you hit the Boarwalk area! It's got some cute entertainment, great evening "club" entertainment, and I love going minature golfing! We always enjoy a lunch/dinner at the ESPN Club and will usually walk over from Epcot. That area is so pretty to walk around and tour the resorts!

Technically you are not allowed to visit the parks after visiting a Resort where you are not staying at. Here is what WDW told me in a e-mail response.

Dear Jason,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

While we appreciate your interest, We Are Unable to Provide Parking for
Park Access in regular or Valet parking. If you are dining you will be
issued a temporary parking pass.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Melissa Acevedo

Your email only referrs to parking at hotels then going to a park. The OP said they were not doing any parks, and no one on this thread mentioned parking at a resort to go to a park.

I often visit Epcot after dinner at Cape May(using Disney transport of course)

Of course when using Disney Transport is a different story. I only said what I said because I thought Irishhockey parks at the Boardwalk and goes to Epcot after eating a meal there. If I am wrong about that and he or she uses Disney Transportation then I am sorry, so my bad.

Also my previous comment was not directed towards the OP.

Reread what you quoted, the post says they walk FROM Epcot not TO. Again you were the one who brought up the park/parking issue. Since the OP said no park visits were planned, your info, while helpful I'm sure was not needed for her.

We have resort hopped many times. Your main problem will be there is no direct transportation from one resort to another with the exception of a bus that runs a loop to several resorts (e.i. Boardwalk, Dolphin, Swan, Yacht Club/Beach Club etc.). We always use DTD as our transfer point but the Magic Kingdom bus stop would be a good second choice. Although, since you are staying "on property" your parking permit for the resort you are staying at may get you into the other resort parking lots. I know I have used my FW parking permit to go to Boardwalk to eat at ESPN Club.

I love to resort hop, but I always use Disney transportation, and sometimes it can take a lot of time to go to other resorts.

On my last trip, we went to AKL for dinner and the driver had no one else on the bus and took us directly there instead of transfering from AK. He was very cool, to do that for us.

I would encourage you to do this! While staying at POR we would take the monorail around to the three resorts for a break. We walked around each one of them and by doing this decided to stay at the Poly since we loved the atmosphere.

We also try to get to at least one resort per trip to walk around but combine this with having lunch or dinner there.

I love resort hopping!! DH and I went on a Disney Cruise last summer. We flew in a day earlier than planned because a hurricane was heading towards the area and we didn't want to chance missing our flight down. Anyway ~ the trip was a budget anniversary getaway and we did not want to spend the extra money on park passes for one day so instead, we resort hopped. We got to visit Beach/Yacht Club, Boardwalk, GF, AKL, Poly (although we had stayed there once before ~ it was fun to revisit) and POR. Of course we had a rental car though, so it was very easy for us to visit so many resorts in one day. Using the WDW transportation would be a little trickier.

It's a great way to explore other resorts for future visits. In fact I now have my heart set on staying at AKL next summer!!

First, the OP said absolutely nothing about even having a vehicle to park anywhere. Second, they will not be going to any parks (reread the original post). Finally, the person you quoted ALSO said nothing about parking a vehicle anywhere and then going to a park “We always enjoy a lunch/dinner at the ESPN Club and will usually walk over from Epcot.” means they START in Epcot and exit the park to go TO a Boardwalk-area restaurant.

It would probably make more sense to read what a poster actually states, rather than interpreting a post to say something it absolutely does NOT say, state, or imply.

We LOVE to resort hop. How else would you know where to stay the next time? :goodvibes Our touring style is such that we do only 2 parks in 6 days (gasp). and on those other days, we are having dinner in other resorts and then we just wander about them. We use Disney transport to get there and usually hop a cab for the ride "home".

We plan to visit the resorts that looked really interesting in the vacation DVD, but we aren't sure we want to stay there : POP, ASMu, CSE, CR, AKL, BC, GF, Poly. This way, the kids still can see some of the giant icons and the adults can check out a few other resorts. We will have TS at some, just take a look around others :)

PS: we will be arriving by Disney transportation :lmao:
