Questions about using a travel agent...

So, I am considering using a travel agent for our future trip (nearly positive it will be February 2017). If I do, what is the earliest that I can start planning the trip with the agent? 500 days out? I saw on a WDW tips website that this is the earliest that you can book the onsite resorts, but only via phone or travel agent.

Also, I'd like to use a travel agency that specializes in Disney and is really great. Any recommendations?

If you want to use a travel agent it is a smart move to get one who specializes in Disney World trips. I think that you can start planning your Disney trip with a travel agent at any time. They will know when they can actually book things. Although I have never used one, a lot of people swear by them because the agents have a wealth of knowledge about getting the best deal and working to find the best discounts. Some of them will even make your ADRs for you. There are several Disney specialists out there. Do some research and pick the one that fit you the best. Cheers!!!

Yeah, I keep seeing people saying that their travel agent got them a great deal, etc., so I don't see why I shouldn't look into it at the very least.

We used triple A (AAA) a couple of times. They did a good job for us and seemed pretty knowledge about Disney. We are AAA members, so we were also able to get a bit of a discount booking thru them. You can start the process anytime you like and make payments up until the deadline or pay it all at once. They wee also able to get us Universal tickets.

Lizzy I used a TA for our upcoming trip and she has been fabulous. Honestly I would be lost with out her. We provided her info on what we wanted to do, where we wanted to, the fact that we wanted breaks, etc. etc and she is doing everything for us. This includes an itinerary of what we should be doing each day in order to maximize our fun and reduce our wait time. My friend used the same TA for her August trip and when my friend told me that she was able to do everything she wanted I was sold. Not to mention having not been to Disney since the 90s I had no clue where to begin. She is really hands on and has been a wonderful asset in planning our upcoming trip. I can PM you her details if you wish, just let me know.

I'm a AAA member, so that's something I'll have to consider!
