Well, I have been lurking here a ton but no writing b/c I gave my dh a present of a trip to universal for which we leave in NINE DAYS!!!! Yeah! I posted a thread on the Community board about clues I left - I don't know how to the post the link here. But I now have questions.

1. How is the luau at Royal Pacific? We're staying there - yeah!
2. How do I find out what movies are playing at the movie theatre?
3. I have a coupon for dinner/movie. How do I know what restaurants are participating and what food you are allowed to get?

Anything else I should know?

Leaving in 9 days -- lucky you!!! The crowds should be pretty much gone by then. We've never done the Luau at RP (but others have and hopefully they'll chime in). You can go to www.citywalk.com, click on entertainment and near the bottom of the page is a link to movie showtimes. Have a great trip!

First off, congrats on your trip. I think you will have a fantastic time. We have really enjoyed our stays at RPR and of course FOTL can't be beat.

I mentioned this over on your thread on the CB. The Luau is okay, but probably not something I'd do again. The food and entertainment were fine, but there are so many things there that we prefer, that I can't see us doing this again. What I would like to try is getting a reservation at the Chef's table at Tchoup Chop. However, DH didn't really love that place, so that is probably not something we will do again.

Even though I am not a brunch buffet kind of person, I really enjoyed the one at the Islands Dining Room at RPR and may go over there for the buffet before leaving Orlando on our next trip.

If you have not already found your info on the movie theater, there is a thread titled "? on movie theater" or something like that on this board. In the # 2 post, Damo has the link to the theater. When you get to RPR, the concierge will have an info flyer with the participating restaurants for the movie/meal deal along with the menu available at each. You do not have to do the movie and meal at the same time. In fact, when we purchased this combo for my family, the three of us went to the movie, but gave DS all three of the meal tickets. That way, DS got to "do what he wanted to do" and we knew that at least his meals were taken care of and didn't have to worry about him spending all of his $$ on "junk" with not enough left over to eat.

Without knowing what you and DH like to do, it is hard to advise on "anything else we should know"! I'll just give you my general thought, and things that we like to do or that work out well for us.

1) From the RPR, it is not necessary to wait for the boats--the walk is not that bad. (DH and DS would probably debate this  )

2) We like to go to Margaritaville right after checking in and getting situated to get our mind in a good vacation frame of mind--Margarita or cold draft beer not required!

3) One evening after the parks close, take the boat over to PBH and enjoy the scene as you approach that resort. Take a walk around and see what you think of that resort. If you like to imbibe, grab a stool at the Salty Fish. If dessert is more your style, try the offerings at the Geleteria. There are some good options for a full up dinner over at the PBH--Sal's for pizza, or Mama's for more of a sit down meal.

4) Try to find time to check out the HRH as well. The Kitchen is a good option if you are looking for a place for a nice meal. There is a nice ice cream parlor in the HRH as well. Again, if you like to imbibe, the Beach Club serves up some nice drinks (I recommend the Sweet Home Alabama)

5) Bring your AAA card (if you have one) for discounts at most restaurants and gift shops. Park tickets as well.

6) Even if you are not a "show person", don't miss the Horror Make Up Show at Universal Studios.

7) Don't hurry over to the parks at the crack of dawn, FOTL will give you enough time to see and enjoy all you want to see--even if you don't go until lunch time!

8) If you love coasters, try to get to IOA when it opens (yes, I know what I said above!) so you can get over to the Hulk to get in the front row line--you can not use FOTL for the front row on Hulk.

9) If you have bothered to get to IOA to ride front row on Hulk, now go directly over to Pterdon Flyers to get on them. Not only can you not use FOTL on the Flyers, but after the line reaches a certain length, you cannot get on without a kid either!

10) Experience Posiden's Fury at IOA.

I know there are many more, but DS wants some lunch! More later!

5) Remember that you RPR not only gets you FOTL at the parks and priority seating in many restaurants, but also privileges at the pools at PBH and HRH.

WOW! Thanks IMGONNAB40! For all the info on this thread and the hotel thread - I greatly appreciate it! I'm going to call that phone number asap!
