I am hoping to get my t-shirts printed today and wonder what size should I make the transfer for adult t-shirts? Do I make the same size for all sizes (s to xl)? How far down do I place it on the shirt?
Thank you :)

If you are using a normal 8 1/2 x 11 transfer I would use the entire thing. I used the entire thing for myself (aduld s), DH (adult L or XL) and SD (size 7). For my DD (size 2T) I shrunk them down. Hope this helps.

I also typically use the 8.5x11 sheet for all adult sizes. For toddler and the smaller youth sizes you can use half a sheet of transfer paper. For the larger youth sizes you will use most of the transfer sheet of paper.

There are two ways that I use to determine a good size for the image. First find a t-shirt that you already own in the size that you are making with a similar shaped image that you like how it looks on the tee and measure its size. Then use that as a starting point for sizing your image to use on the transfer paper. Run a trial print with this size by using "fast draft" and "black and white" so that it doesn't waste a bunch of ink. Then trim out and lay on the shirt you will transfer the image to. If you are happy...print on transfer paper and transfer it to the shirt. If you aren't happy with the size make it smaller or bigger and run another trial print.

You can also use the measurement from the top of the neck to the top of the image on the similar shirt that you are using to get measurements from to help with placement.

That should help you to find the right size!

I layed my shirts out and measured what looked like a good size to me. I then printed out on regular paper my first design, stood in front of a mirror and held it up in front of me to determine positioning. I went visually by the underarm part of the sleeve and took a guestimate on inch(es) above this point as to where to place it on the shirt.

I ended up with the majority of the designs being
Adult - 10.5 wide x 8.25 high (when I printed the test using the entire sheet somehow some of the border got cut off so I went a little smaller)
Childs - I shrunk by 1.5 inches each direction. 9wide by 6.75 high
