Questions about the Maclaren Twin stroller

Are they easily handled with two children and baskets loaded for a day at the parks? Does the year manufactured matter? I have seen 2005-2007 models listed on ebay. Do they fold up nicely for transport in vehicles and on disney transpo? I like that the max weight is 55lbs per seat and I dont want to pay more than 150-200. Im sure this will be our last stroller but still!

The reason I am asking is our current double stroller is bulky and our son outweighs the max of 35lbs per seat. The poor strollers back wheels bow out :rotfl: He is 3 and is 43inches tall and weighs 47lbs. Our DD is 17months and weighs just 30lbs. With a 40lbs stroller thats a lot of weight to push!

So thank you for responses!

I'm actually looking into this exact same thing(i HATE our bulky double). My kids will be 3 and 16 months when we go. I've gone over reviews like crazy. The Maclaren is apparently pretty good - I think the one recommended was the Triumph and a close second, the Twin Rally. The baskets are decent sized - I don't think any basket is the ideal size, especially if the seat backs are reclined, but with 2 baskets, I'm sure you'd be able to throw enough stuff in there.
The other stroller, and the one I think I'm going to get.. Is the Inglesina Twin Swift. It got FABULOUS reviews everywhere and is a little cheaper than the Maclaren!!!

neither have a food tray, so if that's of importance.. you might want to look on ebay or somewhere else for a portable snack tray (which I've seen) .. or the Peg Perego Twin Aria has a snack tray, but it has very mixed reviews and I actuallly spoke to the manager at a high end baby store here and they said they stopped selling it because it had so many complaints and problems with it. needless to say, I won't be getting that one.

This is just what I've gathered in my research for the perfect stroller.. is there actually one?? I'm not knocking anyone's stroller here, I have no personal experience with any, but from reading everything, I'm going with the Inglesina (from Ebay)!!

Wow.. sorry for the novel, hoped it helped in your decision !

We just got our new double in yesterday. :cool1: It's a Baby Planet Unity Sport. Very sturdy, very cute and my girls have sat in it and watched Disney movies for 2 days...and they usually hate the stroller. It was 289. :scared1: shipping and all at Amazon.com. A little heavy and not as small as I had hoped for. :sad2: However it holds 135 pounds 55 per seat and 10 in each basket.:cheer2:

I have two Maclaren's - a single Triumph and a double Techno. I bought the Triumph first and have been using it (and loving it) for years. It weighs 12 lbs and is super easy to cart around. So naturally I decided to get a Maclaren double when baby #2 came. I bought a 2006 model on e-bay a few months ago. I definitely don't love it as much as my single - it weighs 32 lbs. and is difficult to cart around, although it does have a handle that helps to carry it around. The cup holders really only hold baby bottles, but the storage in it is great. It's a good stroller, but not as portable as I'd hoped for. I keep it in the garage and use it as my main stroller for walks - it handles really well. It covers all the terrain really well (over grass in the park, etc.), so it works for my purposes. We're going to WDW in a couple of months, and I'm debating over picking up a cheap single umbrella stroller and bringing two singles instead of the giant double Maclaren. Maybe you'd be better off if you got the Twin Triumph, which I think is a lot lighter than the Techno.

made the difficult decision (for me anyway!) to get two single Maclarens as opposed to a double. I am happy with this decision and we will see how happy I am after we return from Disney in a few weeks. I have a small 2 year old and average 4.5 year old. I purchased the volo's as I was particularly interested in durable but lightweight (8.6 lbs each!) . Volos do not recline. However my small two year old naps just fine in hers! We use them for walks and the mall all the time.

Since I am the one usually waiting around for older kids and DH to finish up big rides at the parks the double would have been nice but, I just didn't want to deal with it this time as we will be relying on ME and Disney transportation the whole week.

good luck with your decisoin. I do love my volos! Oh, and basket size is fine, holds more than you would think and I'm a packer let me tell you! Valco cupholders work great as well as demi milan holder from carryyou dot com.

We went with the two single Maclaren Triumphs also. Just got back. It was a great decision. We picked up stroller connectors for 10 bucks and for the few times that we needed one parent to push both kids we took 30 seconds and locked the strollers together. Pushing the two strollers with the connectors isn't as easy as a double, but it was OK, and the versatility of having two strollers was worth it. It was also nice that when one kid fell asleep, the other wasn't right there to wake him/her up.

yes, I have used the connectors and plan on taking them "just in case" but find it more difficult to push with them for to long. We used them on a trip to the midwest (rocky mountains, Mt Rushmore, etc.) and they worked great for reasons already mentioned. I never thought of the quiet while one was napping though, nice thought!

I'm so glad you posted on this. I have been all over the internet and ebay too for a twin maclaren. We already have a single triumph that we are taking for our 6 old (just in case). It is by far the best stroller I have ever had. I was torn between the twin techno and the twin triumph. I am going to buy the twin triumph this week - I found it on a site for $213.00 and no shipping. I just typed maclaren twin triumph into google and there were several sites that were selling it cheaper than even ebay! Other twin mommies have recommended the twin triumph because it is lighter than the techno and since we are buying it just for Disney Trips - I am not going to spend the money for the techno.
For those of you that have had these in the parks, I would love to hear your feedback!!!

I took my Twin Techno to Disney last year when my boys were 2 and 8 months. As far as a SBS double goes, it's a dream. But when you compare it to a Mac single, it's a pain in the neck! ;) All in all, I am glad I had it when they were that age and into the same things. In a year or two, I am not sure it would be best thing to take.

We leave in 2 weeks and are struggling with our decision of taking the Twin Techno or taking 2 singles.
We have a 3.5yo and a 9 month old.
I don't expect the Twin to be as light and easy to use as a single, it is double the stroller, how can it weigh the same? Anyway, we are expecting that extra weight (about the same as a Graco quatro, etc travel system anyway....;) )
So ues, the double weighs more. But our problem is, how do we know when we will and will not want 2 singles? I mean, when the 3.5yo wants to walk, what do we do, carry that empty folded stroller around? This is why we lean to taking our double...
thoughts?

OP_I love my Mac Twin Techno--we use it alot. I highly recommend it!! We really don't notice the weight in the stroller--well, any of our Macs, really. They are built well.

Love, love, love our Twin Triumph!!! It's soooo easy to fold (w/ 1 hand while holding a baby!), easy to push/maneuver, the rain cover is great, has plenty of storage plus the pockets on the backs of the hoods, reclines a good ways for nap time, has a carry handle (folds like an umbrella so it's not bulky at all).... My 6 yr-old still likes to ride in it, if one of the other 2 ever get out! It was easy enough to fold/unfold that I took my 2 girls and our ds (when he was only 7 mos old) to DL by myself one day and had no problems getting on/off the tram w/ it..... I highly recommend it!!!

Ok....I have narrowed my search down to the Mac twin triumph, Mac twin techno and the baby planet unity. All are in the same price range. All hold up to 110lbs. Does anyone have pros and cons on any or all of these three?

Thanks!

I'll tell you which double *not* to buy- the Peg Perego Twin Aria.

Boy was that an expensive mistake. :sad2:

It is very difficult to maneuver and doesn't fold up as well as the Maclaren.

I got my Maclaren (twin) about a month ago ! I love it I have a 4.5 y.o and a 16 mo. old (with one due in Dec.) We leave for Disney in 2 1/2 weeks and I am so glad I have it. I figure the older one will not sit in it all the time but thats okay I will have it when she needs it. as for the little one. I am not really giving him a choice, LOL . I got mine on a site that was 193 with free shipping. (babydealz). Which was the cheapest I have seen it (even less than albee baby). I have used the stroller many times and love it. would recommend it!

The weight can be a pain but all in all it is better than carrying two cranky or sleeping kids.
