For arrival time planning purposes, I was wondering how strict they are on the check-in time. It says 3 PM, but is that strict or can one check in an hour earlier or so? If strict, is it a zoo at 3 PM?

Anyone know approximately how large the in-room safe is?

I think I read somewhere that someone thought that there are small refrigerators in all the rooms. Is that correct?

You can show up anytime that day, but you aren't guaranteed a room until 3pm. They will hold your luggage for you at bell services. The room safe can hold a tablet, wallet, etc. It's too small for a laptop.

There are small 'dorm' refrigerators in the rooms.

I've checked in at 6AM

The safe is shallow, mounted in the wall of the closet. The safes in the villas and hotel rooms part of the expansion are larger, and can accept a small laptop.

There are larger safes at the front desk. I was able to fit a laptop in a few years ago (=larger laptops).

when you arrive just go check in right away and store your luggage with Bell Services and they will give you your keys and text your phone when your room is ready.
We often fly in early am and check in early that way we miss the long lines at 3pm. And I pack a bag for the park so we check the remaining luggage and go into the park until they text that our room is ready. That way you just walk in through DCA and to the room, call for luggage to be brought up, and go back down to enjoy the park!
Also, if you're having the Vons delivery, they will take it up to your room when the room is ready as well.
