Questions about Shula's Steak House Kids and Parking?

Have you ever SEEN what happens when someone starts a thread suggesting an "adult only" place at WDW? People FREAK OUT out about it.

So it's probably easier for Disney to take the ambiguous way out.

Shula's isn't Disney-operated. But they have to play the Disney way if they're going to operate on Disney property or they won't get enough people into the restaurant, so they can't exclude the kids entirely.

The only restaurant at WDW that excludes children (under 10) is Victoria & Albert's. This is a Disney-operated restaurant. But it is also a quite small and very upscale place, and has its own unique niche - in which it was actually a liability for that particular restaurant to start drawing the families with young children in. Before they had the age restriction, there were several reports of guests bringing in babies and young kids and doing things like demanding children's meals and allowing the kids to roam the restaurant when they got bored during the 3 hour sit down meal.

Just a suggestion. The Dolphin has a program where your kids can attend the kids club in the hotel for free for up to 2 hours if you dine at Shulas or Bluezoo. We did this with our kids and they loved it. They were taken to the buffet for dinner by the kids club and then they colored and played with Legos and Wii games. I don't know about your kids but mine were much happier playing and eating spaghetti and pizza from the buffet than they would have been eating at Shulas.

::yes:: We are very excited to have this option for our kids. They will enjoy it and we will be able to enjoy a nice QUIET dinner!

The sort of behavior TDC Nala describes is exactly what Shula's wants to avoid.

By not offering a published kids menu they are sort of saying that w/o actually prohibiting kids. A great deal of their business is convention/adult--but it's possible for a walk-in family with kids to show up, and I imagine they wouldn't want to turn them away.

We've eaten at Shulas both in Orlando and at other locations with our children and have never had an issue. We don't use or ask for a childrens menu, so i don't know what it entails. Everyone has always treated us respectfully and we;ve never had a bad experience. My kids are like little adults and behave, so i am sure if you have well behaved kids- your experience should be the same.

I think as far as Shula's goes you shouldn't have problems since your kids are older. I know they aren't welcoming towards young children, but at your kids' ages my older two were capable of not only behaving but of really enjoying an upscale meal and they were ordering from adult menus anyway. We've never taken them to the one at WDW (mostly because our youngest, now 2yo, came along) but we did take them to the one we used to have up here on a couple of occasions without any problems or attitude.

As far as Camp Dolphin goes I'm under the impression that it is really geared toward younger kids. They allow kids up to 12, same as the Disney kids club, but the activities are more the sort of thing elementary schoolers would appreciate.
