Questions about Saratoga Springs Buses

Hi I am going to Disney's Saratoga Springs early Sept. and some of my family who will be traveling this trip includes a 2 & 10 year olds and also my dad who uses a wheelchair. I prefer to stay at the Spring Building than the Grandstand because of the walk in pool for my family.

But I have some questions about the SSR Bus Service.

1. How long is the wait for a bus, during opening hours to MK?

2. If I stay at the Grandstand Building, how long does it take the bus to circle the entire resort before leaving towards the park?

3. If I stay at Spring Building, I know I properly have to stand on the bus, but will the bus stop if already full? and will they still load the wheelchair?

My father can walk onto the bus but can’t stand for more than a 1-2 mins.

I haven't stayed at SSR, but I can address the wheelchair question. If the bus is full, they won't load a wheelchair.

Plus, there is a limit of only 2 Wheelchair/ECV slots per bus, so even if there is ample room on the bus for ambulatory people, they won't load a wheelchair if those two slots are already taken. Plus you need to allow for the occasional bus with a broken lift, got stuck on one once, lift failed after we were loaded, had to collapse the chair and Mom had to take the steps.

That said, at OKW with 5 internal stops, we've only had to wait for a wheelchair slot a couple of times...but we are always sure to stay near the 1st, 2nd or 3rd stop of the route...the 4th and 5th stops often have the 2 slots already filled.

I just got back from SSR and stayed at Congress Park stop#4. Most people who boarded with wheelchairs were at the Springs. The ride to MK seemed very long between waiting for the bus, circling the resort, and getting there. The parks were all very busy last week and by taking it slow we had a wonderful time. Pool seemed very busy each time we drove by. SInce we had a quiet pool near our room that is where we stayed.

Hope this helps.

When we were there recently, it took about 5-10 minutes from Grandstand stop to do the whole SSR circle. The buses were only full when traveling around 9-10 in the am. We tended to miss the bus crowds by leaving for the parks early and coming home early. There was frequently a CM there in the mornings with a radio, and I did hear her saying that she was sending 2 buses straight to the last two stops because buses had been too full to load anyone else. Grandstand's 8000-8400 is very convenient to the bus stop and the pool area there is close. There was a family who sweetly walked their grandfather through the water sprinkler area everyday to cool him off. Good luck!

This helps. Is it better to take a car with parking etc..? How are the buses @ 7:00-7:30 A.M. :crazy2: We figure on getting to MK for the EMH next Thurs. 6/25

Most handicap parking is more convenient than taking a bus, if you have a wheelchair. The exception may be MK, as you have to park in the main lot, take ramps down and up under a roadway, then you have the ramps to the monorail or an incline to the large ferry boats, though the boats seem easier.

Thanks for all of the info, that really help. I have decided to request the grandstand and just walk to the main pool whenever needed for the little kids. Am only going to take the bus when going MK ticket and transportation center. All of the other parks I will just drive because your right, the Handicap Parking is closer.

Anyone know how long the walk is from Grandstand to The main Buliding?

We were in a studio on the 4th floor of the 9600 building (not one right by the Grandstand pool) as far from the elevator as you could be. In August heat, walking slowly, it took us 8 minutes to walk to the Main building once we got to the ground floor.
