Okay so I am just planning WAY ahead of time and kind of premature but I have some questions about the rooms you live in for the college program. First how do you guys feel about the amount of storage space you have for things like clothes. Also can you think of anything you definatly need to take down with you that your room doesnt come with. And the internet in the rooms are they wifi or do you need an eathernet cable? I will probably think of more but that is all for right now. If any one else has questions about the rooms or really anything else about the program feel free to post them here because it will probably help everyone!

When I was there last summer, they didn't have WiFi (I stayed in Chatham). It could be different now, but I brought my own cable and wireless router. I have a laptop and hate being chained to a desk.

Also, there isn't much closet space. You have a closet that you share with your roommate. What some people do is bring (if they drive) or buy (if they fly) one or two of those underbed storage bins. They help a lot. My old roommate and I were about the same size, which was interesting. The shelves were shaped like an L, so I had one side, she had the other. You also are provided a short locker in the closet for anything you want to keep safe. Jewelry, large amounts of money (if, for some reason, you don't have a bank account), a laptop (if it fits), etc. I didn't really use mine, but I trusted my roommates. We got on really well, except for one of the six of us.

I lived at Chatham and the closets were big walk-in closets so make sure you buy a lot of hangers- there was plenty of room for my clothes in just the closet. the room also has one tiny dresser with 6 drawers for you and your roommate to share...
-the bedroom has one overhead light in it but i would bring another lamp or something because in my apartment the light was dim and yellow...
-the apartment had cables for internet already there and we had wi-fi too...
-definitely talk with your roommate if you know who it will be and bring a tv and cables so you can get channels...

hope this helps! :thumbsup2

I live at Chatham as well, and I feel that there is enough space for clothes.

Also we didn't have an ethernet cord or wifi here already for us, I brought them from home and that is what we use. the internet(not the wireless router) really sucks though, but i deal.

did you need to bring like a vaccum or does the apartment have one?

The apartment itself doesn't have a vacuum, but you'll be able to check one out in the apartment complex. At least you could at Vista on my last program, please correct me if something's changed.

yeah when I did my program chatham had vaccuums and other things that you could check out to use- you just had to pay a dollar for the vaccuum bags

for those who have done the cp before, what do you recommend in terms of how many roommates to get?

I did the program as a Fall Advantage, and then extended into the Spring. I lived in Chatham in a two bedrom for the first part of the program. I liked the two bedroom as there were only four of us there. It stayed cleaned for the most part as there weren't too many of us there to really make a mess. It also felt big with that number of people occupying it.
Then I moved to Vista to a three bedroom (long story why I ended up there) and it turned out to be ok. The people I lived with there were a LOT more outgoing and everytime I was home, there was almost always another person there so you almost always had someone to talk to. It did feel a little more crowded at times as there were six of us and a small kitchen. Dishes and pots always needed to be cleaned, and two bedrooms had to share one bathroom. That was four grown men using one shower. Timing was everything. There was a time when it was late at night and I woke up needing to use the restroom. A roomie was in the shower taking forever. I thought he was done when the shower turned off, then about a minute later it turned back on. I had to knock on the door and make him clear out for a minute so I could use it.
So depending on the type of person you are- that will determine the amount of rooms you want. Just remember to check in EARLY so you have a better chance of getting what you want!!

Just my opinion: I would say at the most 3 roommates-it seems like any more than that and the apartments just get crowded... I had 3 roommates- I liked the size of the apartment and we had 2 bathrooms and huge closets.
4 people in one apartment is a good number because then (especially for girls) you can't get too "clique-y". add more people and there are bound to be issues...

I personally am going to the CP with a friend, and we're going to get there insanely early in hopes of getting a one bedroom... yeah, like I said, we'll be getting there eaaaaarrrrlyyyy in the morning hahaha :goodvibes

you can only get there at the earliest arrival time they give you- the security is really strict!
i tried to go as early as like 7am and they wouldn't let us in until the cp people running it were ready... so i waited around for like 2 hours- they were ready at 9am

*My arrival date was the last possible arrival for my cp so i thought i was gonna get stuck with 7 other people but they actually had plenty open and they gave me what i asked for... so i don't think anyone has to worry about getting stuck somewhere they don't want
