Questions about recharging my camera while we're away

So when we go on our trip, I obviously won't have my PC with me to hook the dock up to... but can I just take the dock and the power cord and use it to recharge my camera while we're away?

Or does it have to be hooked to your computer to recharge your camera?

I'm a computer/camera dummy.

in theory, yes.

Next time, don't buy Kodak with its propretary everything. Docking bay is the stupidest idea ever (Fuji tried it and abandoned it, Minolta and HP too)

Let me try to help you out!!

You should have a battery charger that plugs directly into the wall. Insert the battery into the charger and plug it in.

Go to the Kodak sight you linked to.

Go down to the bottom of the screen (it is on my monitor) until you see
Z7590 support.

Under that after the sentence "visit the z7690 support blah blah blah you will see user manual. click that

Then under table of contents click on "charging the battery"

There you will see a picture of the charger.

If you have it just take it with you and charge as needed.

I have a DX4900 and yes you will be able to charge it on the dock with no PC connected. At least you can with mine.

Not sure about bringing the dock...but I got an extra battery for mine and fully charged it and brought it with me, much less hassle. How long of a trip are you taking? I have taken mine on about a week long trip, took TONS (Over 200) photos and never needed to change the battery as long as I was careful turning it off.
