Questions about Poly and Winter deals

Are these winter deals @ the Poly a good deal? We plan on going 1/7-11/04 (2 adults and 2yr old)>
5 nights garden view = $1600 with full park pass
5 nights lagoon view = $1888 with full park pass

Are the lagoon view rooms worth the extra $288? Is it possible to reserve a particular room in a certain building? If so, what are some of the best ones? Looking at the map, I think we want to stay on the 3rd floor of the Somoa overlooking the Volcano Pool or the Tahiti. Any suggestions or comments on the buildings. I check out that Tikiman website but couldn't tell that much from the pictures. Is there any way to free upgrade from a garden view to a lagoon view? Should I go ahead and reserve a room at the above prices or will better deals come along? Any help would be apprecieated.

I think it's a good deal. I had (same time) GV reservations for 5 nights AAA for 1410 with tax. Then AP rates came out and got GV for 950 for 5 nights (LV was 1250). Bought APs also 2 adult, 1 child for 1100. Works for me because we plan on going back next October. Also for my party, same time Dreammaker pkg was 1800. So for under 200 you're getting tickets. I look at the cost of my stay as 950 for room plus 1/2 of AP at 550, so total of 1600 and you won't have an obligation to come back soon!

Forgot to menbtion you should reserve to ensure availability. You can always call and modify your reservation(how I got APrate) if something comes along. I don't think it will though as it was like pulling teeth to get an AP rate.

Sorry---I'm going in December. AP rates not released for January so something better may come along. Also you don't need an AP to get the rate but one person needs it at check in.
