You have all been amazing in always answering my questions so I have another one for ya!

We are heading next week to start our travel to DL my question is so i take my big nikon camera or my little nikon cool pix? I am sure there are alot of amazing things i need to take picture of while there. However is the big camera to bulky to lug around all day where the other just fits into purse. Also we will be staying at Fairfield and I believe there are no safes there.

What would you do?

Thank so much!

I only have a P&S that I always carry around. However, when my sister and her boyfriend joined us for our October trip, her boyfriend regretted not having his DSLR with him. He thought it would be troublesome to lug it around but he ended up snapping so many photos, I don't think he would've minded. I say bring your big camera and get better quality photos...there are so many photo ops at DLR, you'll regret not having a good one later. Or better yet, bring both and drop one off at the lockers when you don't feel like lugging the big one around. Have a wonderful trip and don't forget to share your pictures with us :thumbsup2

I'd bring the big one or even both. You could always change it up if you feel overburdened. However, get a camera bag, seriously. It's extremely nice to be able to tuck a DSLR into a bag when not needed. If you don't already have one consider Lowepro or Crumpler.

This is pretty simple for me to answer with a question.

Are you going to take pictures or enjoy attractions?

Lugging a large camera on and off rides isn't fun, so you will probably need to get a locker and go back to it many times a day to get and replace the camera.

If you plan to do only a couple attractions, nothing fast like Splash or Screemin then it will be easy to take the camera around and take lots of pictures.

I brought my P&S on my birthday trip in November and so regretted not bringing the DSLR once I uploaded the pics. I'll only bring the DSLR from now on (or go camera-less). However, I can just squeeze my Nikon DSLR into my purse with the short lens, so it's not like I have an extra bag, I just have a heavy purse for the day.

I have the Crumpler 3 Million Dollar bag for my Nikon DSLR, and I carried it everywhere we went during our 10 day trip last week. I just transferred what I needed to have with me into the bag and away I went. It's no more cumbersome than a purse that way and I ended up taking over 1000 photos.

ETA: And I rode all the attractions with no issue whatsoever. The Crumpler bag fits nicely into the pouches on the rides.

I always bring a DSLR, a video camera, two tripods (a larger one and a table-top), an audio recorder, and spare batteries. Everything but the DSLR goes into a backpack and the DSLR goes into a camera bag that straps across my chest. Primarily I do this because we put together a lot of informational YouTube videos (link in my signature).

Walking around like that for four days in the park, I don't even notice that I'm carrying anything (both my hands are free). It's not a big deal to take off the backpack and camera bag when I hop into a ride, since it only takes like three seconds.

It may seem like a lot to carry around, and I'm not necessarily recommending it. Just that if you bring a nice camera, as long as you have something to carry it in so your hands are free, you'll be glad you brought it and you probably won't mind carrying it around.

We were just there last week and I brought my brand-new DSLR and my P&S with me. I, too, was really worried about lugging the DSLR around and what to do with it on rides.

I bought a Lowepro bag, the smallest I could get that fit my camera, and I was actually able to put both cameras in it.

I found it surprisingly easy to have the bag with me on the rides and noticed the loads of others carrying around their DSLRs (many without camera bags even. :scared1:

The only downside (if there is one) is that I did take a ton of pictures because I had the DSLR...I had intended to take a lot, but I think I took even more than I would have. :lmao: I debated leaving the DSLR in the hotel our last day, but in the end brought it and was glad because I got some of my best pictures that day - ones I would not have been able to capture with my P&S.

We were at DLR last week and I only have two cameras if you count the one on my iphone. So not bringing my DSLR (& lenses) was simply not an option. I have a Lowepro bag that carried it all :) DSLR, two extra lenses, extra battery, charger, and kept some $ and our APs in the zippered pocket. It still wasn't full but & was very slim and not cumbersome at all. I HIGHLY recommend getting this style of camera bag for anyone that is looking for a bag to wear around the park.

HTH

*not a paid spokesperson for Lowepro. I shelled out the cash like everyone else :)
